PS4 System Software Ver. 5.01
A minor update for the PS4 has been released, updating the system software version to v5.01. This is a very minor update and is currently not mandatory to install. However, it may be required if you attempt to play some newer games. The changelog indicates that this update improves system performance.

The latest major PS4 Firmware update is out of beta and available to download to everyone. This new update continues to improve the system software by allowing gamers to customise their friends list, easily manage family member accounts, and makes further changes to Notifications, including colour customisation.
