Sony has revealed the latest figures for its PlayStation business, showing that the PS4 had some more than 40 million units world wide as of March 31, 2016. The PS4 remains the fastest selling console in PlayStation history. The PS4 has in turn helped Sony reach almost 21 million PlayStation Plus subscribers.

E3 2016: PlayStation Press Conference Round-up
Sony’s E3 Press Conference concluded earlier today, and we’ve got all the announcements in one place. A number of new games were announced, including God of War, Detroit: Become Human, Resident Evil 7: Bio Hazard and more. As expected, a number of PlayStation VR titles were also shown-off.
Sony Confirms PS4 Neo Is Coming, More Expensive than Current Model
Andrew House, president and global chief executive of Sony Interactive Entertainment, has confirmed the existence of the PS4 “Neo” to the Financial Times. House has also confirmed that the “high-end PS4” would be more expensive than the current $350 version.
Sony Announces Formation of New PlayStation Company
Sony has formed a new company that will be come the headquarters for everything PlayStation. Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC (SIE) will be based out of San Mateo, California, United States, and “joins the forces of both Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. and Sony Network Entertainment LLC.”
Hideo Kojima Partners with Sony for PS4 Exclusive
Hideo Kojima and Sony have announced an exclusive partnership with his newly formed studio Kojima Productions. Kojima Productions’ first software title will be a console exclusive to PlayStation 4. The announcement was made by Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment in a YouTube video (see below).
Japan Gets Nine Coloured PS4 HDD Panels Options, Coming in November 2015
In more news from the Sony’s TGS 2015 press conference, Japan is to get more colour options for the PS4. From November 6th, gamers in Japan will be able to purchase individual coloured replacements for the removable HDD panel, with nine colours to choose from. There are also four new DualShock 4 colour schemes on the way too, with gold, silver, steel black and translucent crystal options.
PlayStation VR is the Official Name for the PS4’s Project Morpheus
At a Sony Press Conference in Tokyo earlier this morning, Sony officially revealed the name of the PlayStation Virtual Reality headset, previously known as Project Morpheus. The official name for the headset is now PlayStation VR, and will be releasing to consumers in early 2016. For the time being, Sony continues to refine the hardware and is working with 3rd party developers and publishers to bring content to the device.
Sony Reports 25.3M PS4’s Shipped, Increase in Profits
Sony is continuing it’s road to financial recovery, having recently reported an increase in profit for Q1 2015. Sony has report $780 million operating profit, up 39% compared to last year, and mostly thanks to the success of the PS4. Sony’s games devision was obviously the most profitable part of the company, reporting 350% increase in profits to $147 million.
Sony Reveals Latest PS4 Sales Figures, 22.3 Million PS4s Sold Since Launch
Sony’s latest financial reports reveals that over 22.3 million PS4 consoles have been sold since launch. Since the last quarterly report, it means Sony has sold over 3.8 million units. However, the report also shows that sales of Sony’s portable consoles has declined.
Sony Purchases OnLive Assets as Company Closes
OnLive, the California-based provider of cloud gaming, has announced that it’s service will be closing this month. As a result, Sony has been able to strengthen it’s own cloud gaming service by purchasing OnLive’s patent portfolio, making it the company’s second cloud-gaming acquisition since Gaikai in 2012.
