Sony has revealed that it will not be attending the E3 event in Los Angeles, which will be taking place in June 2019. This is the first time in the 24 year history of the event that Sony will not be attending, leaving its two biggest competitors to make the most of the event.
Sony is relaunching the original PlayStation in the form of PlayStation Classic. The mini console will come pre-loaded with 20 of the best games from the original PlayStation Console, including Final Fantasy VII, TEKKEN 3, Ridge Racer Type 4, Wild Arms and more to be announced. The PlayStation Classic will launch on 3rd December 2018 for £89.99 / €99.99.

Sony has released the latest sales figures for the PS4 following the holiday season. Up to 3rd December 2017, 70.6 million PS4 were sold, but as of 31st December 2017, this figure now stands at 73.6 million units. A recent report from Sony has revealed that there are over 70 million monthly active users (MAU) on the PlayStation Network, with approximately 26.4 million PlayStation Plus subscribers. As for this year’s strategy, Sony is looking to sell a total of 78 million PS4s, and further increase PSN subscribers.
Sony has announced that it will be holding a press conference at Tokyo Game Show in September. The press conference is scheduled for 4pm local time on 13th September 2016, which is equivalent to 8am BST / 9am CEST / 3am EDT, depending on where you are in the world. The TGS press conference will take place despite Sony having a separate press conference less than a week before, where the PlayStation “Neo” and PS4 Slim are expected to be officially unveiled.
