This week’s Japanese hardware sales charts show that the brand new PS Vita has sold only 42,648 units in the last week. That’s actually less units than the PSP sold (62,746 units to be exact) and considerably less than the 3DS (which moved nearly 200,000 machines).

PlayStation Vita Sales Suffer In Second Week
PlayStation Vita has only sold 72,479 units in its second week since launch, which is a rather disappointing figure after more than 320,000 units were sold in the first 48 hours since launch. In comparison, the PSP sold 101,121 units, while the 3DS shifted a staggering 482,200 units in the same seven days.
Sony Sells Over 300,000 PS Vitas In 2 Days
Sony has managed to sell a total of 321,407 PlayStation Vitas on December 17 (the day it was launched in Japan) and 18, according to Japanese video game magazine Famitsu [JP]. This pretty solid number means that big S has sold about 46% of its initial shipment of Vitas (which is rumored to be around 700,000 units) in 48 hours.
PlayStation Move Sales Catches Up to Kinect
Kinect has now sold ten million units, but eight million were sold in the first two months, a pattern that Ubisoft has described as “not healthy”. In contract, the PlayStation Move only just reached the 9 million mark, but sales have been steady since launch. The latest figures puts the PlayStation Move just a million short of Kinect.

Call of Duty: Black Ops has experienced tremendous success this week, making it the biggest launch in entertainment history. The game was released November 9th and has sold over 5.6 million copies across Europe and North America on the first day alone.
PlayStation Move Sells 1.5 Million Units Across Europe
Sony’s PlayStation Move controller has been quite a success in Europe according recent sales figures. In the first month, the controller has seen sales “in the region of 1.5 million units”, according to SCEE boss Andrew House, exceeding initial estimates from Sony.
PlayStation 3 Sales Up 118% Year On Year
Earlier this week, Sony announced their financial and figures from the first quarter of the fiscal year – with the fiscal year ending on March 31st 2011. The figures indicate the company has made an operating income of $753 million with a net income of $289 million.

Red Dead Redemption Sells 550,000 Copies on Day One
Preliminary sales data for Red Dead Redemption indicated that the title as sole around 550,000 units in the US on day one. The game is now also available in Europe which could break sales for the title past the one million mark. VGChartz estimates worldwide week one sales of around 1.2 – 1.3 million units, making it another fast selling game in 2010.
Over $330m Worth of Blu-ray Discs Sold in Q1 2010
Remember a time when everyone though that the Blu-ray format would fail? Since Blu-ray won over the High-definition format war (against HD-DVD), the format has been gaining great momentum. The latest aggregated sales figures from Home Media Magazine puts revenues from BD sales in the US for the first quarter of 2010 were $331.31 million, which accounts to an increase of 68.5% compared to the Q1 2009.
