With E3 only a month away, the rumor mill has started churning through all the possible announcements we could expect. For starters, the list of “confirmed” games from Sony, Microsoft and a few other publishers has been leaked, showing some expected and surprising titles in the list. Naturally, the leaked list should be taken with a grain of salt as some of the titles seem to be a little far fetched.

Rumor Alert: Background Patch Downloading In Future Firmware
Currently, downloading a patch for your favourite game can be a little annoying. You have to wait for the patch to download and install before you can get playing. A rumor suggests that Sony is working on a new feature for a future firmware update what allows gamers to download the patch in the background while enjoying the game.
Rumor Alert: Gran Turismo 5 Dated
Although an official release date for Gran Turismo 5 has yet to be revealed, we know that the game will be arriving sometime in Autumn 2010. It seems that a number of retailers are showing the release date as September 24th 2010, including Play.com, CDWOW, and Zavvi.co.uk. It wouldn’t be the first time a retailer has revealed an official release date before an official announcement.
Rumor Alert: God of War III Getting Multiplayer DLC
If a recent PlayStation Magazine scan is to be believed, God of War III will be getting some downloadable content soon. However, this is no ordinary content. The scan shows that the game will be getting some kind of multiplayer content, expanding the current single-player aspect of the game. Rumor Alert: Killzone 3 To Have 3D And Motion Controller Support
A rumor currently doing the rounds on the internet suggests that the sequel to Killzone 2 will support stereoscopic 3D and Sony’s Motion Controller. While we’re still waiting for details of games that will utilise the PS3 motion controller, a title of this calibre would certainly be a positive selling point for Sony.
Sony Trademarks “Arc” In Japan
A recent trademark filed by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan adds weight to the rumor previously reported that the upcoming PlayStation 3 motion controller, currently known as the PlayStation Motion Controller, will be named Arc.
Rumor Alert: OtherOS To Be Removed In Next Firmware Update
According to a rumor on the Yellow Dog Linux Forums, Linux Product Manager Owen Stampflee has posted that the OtherOS feature will be removed in the next firmware update. The topic on the forum has since been removed, which leads us to question it’s credibility. The OtherOS feature is expected to be removed in order to block the recently discovered exploit.
Rumor Alert: Nunchuck Coming to PS3 Motion Controller
According to the latest rumors, Sony is also working on a nunchuck attachment for the motion controller. Sony’s Arc / Gem controller is rumored to be arriving in two wireless parts: the glowing stick we’ve seen before and a “nunchuck” that will feature a number of buttons, including an analogue stick, Square, Circle and even L1 and R1.
SCEA: Arc is a “Code Name” for Motion Controller
Despite some solid evidence that the motion controller from Sony will be called “Arc”, SCEA’s Patrick Seybold has said PlayStation Arc is a “rumored code name” for the upcoming motion controller. In a tweet, Seybold said, “We haven’t announced the name of our Motion Controller. He referred to it as a rumored code name.”
Rumor Alert: Mass Effect 2 Will Be On PS3 Before End of Year
There has been a number of rumors circulating this week regarding Mass Effect 2, currently only available on the Xbox 360. References in the code and anonymous sources confirm that a PS3 version is likely, and expected before the end of the year. Mass Effect 2 has been out for about one week and a half and has gone on to sell well past 2 million units and is now one of the highest ranking Xbox 360 exclusives on Metacritic.
