Kotaku is claiming, from “multiple sources”, that Final Fantasy Versus XIII has been cancelled by Square Enix. The site claims that the game was officially cancelled within the “last few weeks” and the decision has impacted morale at the company. The rumor also suggests that an official cancellation announcement will not be made.

PS3 Firmware v4.20 Suggests Hardware Revision Maybe Coming
PS3 Firmware 4.20 was released a few days ago, and it looks like a few other changes made it into the system software that weren’t mentioned in the official changelog. A couple of changes were picked up by PS3UltraSlim that might back up rumours of a super slim PS3.
Rumor Alert: PS3 Firmware 4.20 Releasing Tonight
According to a forum post on NeoGAF, PlayStation 3 system software 4.20 will be released tonight. The new features include tweaks to the wireless stereo headset options, time-off adjustments and the ability to copy multiple items of save data. Sony hasn’t mentioned anything yet so we’re classifying this as a rumor for now.
Rumor Alert: Updated PS4 Spec Sheet Indicates Near “Final” Hardware
According to some “reliable” specs over on NeoGAF, the PS4 hardware is “more or less set in stone.” The forum post indicates that the PS4, codenamed “Orbis” will feature a AMD CPU with 4 cores and a AMD GPU capable of producing 1.8 teraflops. The RAM is also set at a rather low 2GB of GDDR5 RAM, and unlikely to be upgraded to 4GB.

Sony first announced the Slim PS3 back in August 2009 at German trade show Gamescom. It is 32% smaller, 36% lighter and consumes 34% less power that the previous model. That was three years ago with the PS3 now being 6 years old. Gamescom is just around the corner, so could Sony be planning to release a even thinner PS3 Slim console?

Following the confirmation from Sony that PS4 games are in development, a Dutch website claims to have the official specs to the unannounced PlayStation 4. The specs include the CPU, APU, GPU and RAM the system may have. The leaked spec sheet also confirms the inclusion of a Blu-ray drive and HDMI 1.4.
Rumor Alert: Final Fantasy Versus XIII Now Final Fantasy XV
Final Fantasy Versus XIII has been talked about for some time now – it was first announced almost 6 years ago at E3 2006. However, details over the years have been scarese until this week. MCV seems to believe that Final Fantasy Versus XIII will instead now be Final Fantasy XV, though a source for that has not been revealed.
SCEA Audio Engineer Mentions “PlayStation 4”
Its looks like a Software Engineering at SCEA has accidentally let slip that he has worked on maintaining a “voice chat library” for the PlayStation 4. Frederick Umminger listed the role on his LinkedIn profile, but was later corrected to reference the PlayStation 3.
Rumour Alert: PS4 Getting Speech Recognition
Sony is looking for an intern to help with developing a voice recognition system. Since the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita don’t have a ‘voice recognition system’ then it’s a pretty safe assumption this can only be for a future PlayStation product (or indeed a future firmware update for either of the existing products).

Another remove about the PlayStation 4 / Orbis has been circling recently. This new rumor suggests that Orbis will support OpenGL natively. “OpenGL is a layered API on the PS3,” source have told TheSixthAxis. “It’s much easier to use than LibGCM, which is the main PS3 system.”
