FreePlay’s PSPgo Exploit Patched By Firmware v6.20
Remember the PSPgo exploit we reported on a while back (see here and here)? Unfortunately, the exploit has now been patched in the latest Firmware update from Sony. FreePlay has revealed that the exploit used a gamesave exploit in Archer Maclean’s Mercury. If you still have Firmware 6.10 installed and own a copy of Mercury, you can still make use of the exploit.
Team Typhoon shows CFW 6.10 for PSPgo
Team Typhoon have developed a working custom firmware for the PSPgo, making use of a exploit in the system software. Unfortunately, the custom firmware will not be released to the public, in order to prevent the exploit from being patched in a future firmware version. Check out the video below to see the firmware in action. A better video of the custom firmware will be released next week.
eLoader for PSPgo In Development
Remember that video of the PSPgo running homebrew a while back? (If no, see below). FreePlay was able to run some custom code on the PSPgo just days after launch, making use of a known exploit that was still present in the new firmware update. According to his latest progress update, FreePlay is now working on a eLoader for the PSPgo. If all goes well, we could see a PSPgo eLoader, allowing you to load your own homebrew applications and games on the PSPgo.

The PSPgo has given PSP sales a huge boost in North America. Sony has yet to release any hard numbers for the PSP Go, but according to Sony Computer Entertainment America, the latest PSP iteration is doing a great job of boosting sales for the PSP platform. In the three days since launch, sales have jumped 300% compared to the previous week.
SCEE PSPgo Rewards Experiencing Issues

However, downloading the games to your PS3 and then transferring them to your PSP is causing licensing issues.
PSPgo Review
The PSPgo is the latest PSP model from Sony, released on October 1st 2009. The PSPgo is the smallest and lightest PSP yet, weighing in a just 160g. It’s 50% smaller and 40% lighter than the original PSP (PSP-1000). We’ve been playing with the PSPgo for a couple of days now and though it was about time we share out thoughts. In short, the new model is great but there are a few short-comings.
PSPgo Hacked Already
While Sony went to great lengths towards preventing a repeat of the Pandora battery hack on PSPgo, they evidently forgot to patch up some existing security vulnerabilities on the software side. Mere days after the launch of the new hardware, homebrew developer FreePlay has managed to run unsigned code on it. Below is a video clip showing off his efforts in the form of a “Hello World!” proof of concept.
