Rumor Alert: Firmware 3.0 and New PSN Details Expected at GamesCom
At GamesCom in Germany this month Sony will be holding a 3-hour press conference, which we speculate will result in an official announcement of the PS3 Slim. But it could also mean announcements of many other things. New rumors this week suggest that details of Firmware 3.00 will also be announced, though the firmware would not be released on the same day. Sources of PSInsider also speculate an announcement of a new PlayStation Network.

SCEJ Releases First Pay-To-Play Game For PlayStation 3
Trash Panic is a PSN game released by Sony earlier last month, which costs for £3.99 / €4.99 and includes trophies. Today, a modified version of the game has been released in Japan. Gomi Bako, as the game is known in Japanese, has been released as a pay-to-play game much like real arcade games. It costs ¥100 (approx. 69p) to play and you get 3 lives, but unlike the original game this version unlockes rewards in PlayStation Home.
Rumor Alert: PlayStation Network Connect
PlayStation Network users could be getting a better online experience soon, a newly registered website suggests. PlayStation gamers could be getting a more connected experience with the launch of PSN-Connect. Although the website is currently blank, the domain belongs to SCEA as a simple whois search reveals. Of course, this doesn’t prove anything. It could just be a holding page to protect the PSN Trademark.
Flower Trophy Guide
Flower is the latest game from thatgamecompany, the ingenious minds behind flOw which was one of the earliest and indeed the first indie game to hit the PlayStation Store. In flower, you control a petal and work your way through environments rejuvenating them to become bright and beautiful once more.
I strongly suggest that if you have bought the game, that you play through each of the 6 levels or ‘dreams’ BEFORE looking at this guide – it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience the first time you play through it and I do not want to ruin that for you.
Japan To Get Downloadable Manga For PSP
PlayStation Japan has announced that they will be adding downloadable Manga to the PlayStation Store. While there’s no mention of what manga will be available as well as pricing, this is great news indeed. Although of course, this is only for Japan – but lets hope Sony decides to expand into other regions. It shouldn’t be too much of a problem for Sony to bring this feature to other territories, though localization could prove to be a hurdle for Sony, especially in Europe.
Bionic Commando: Rearmed Trophies
Classic side-scrolling gameplay is reporting back for duty with Bionic Commando Rearmed, a remake of the classic NES game.
