A few hours ago, the PlayStation Network mysteriously went offline for many users. When attempting to sign in, user’s were informed that their password was incorrect, instead of seeing the usual “Maintenance” message shown during scheduled downtime. Luckily, the PSN wasn’t hacked this time.

PSN Maintenance This Thursday
The PlayStation Network will be going offline again this week, for scheduled maintenance. The maintenance period will begin this Thursday (May 31st 2012), starting at 4:00pm BST and will last until Friday, 8:00am BST. The downtime will affect both North American and European regions.
PlayStation Network Scheduled Maintenance Tomorrow
The PlayStation Network will be offline for scheduled maintenance from 16:00 (BST) Thursday 24th May until – 08:00 (BST) on Friday 25th May. During the maintenance window, the PlayStation Store will be inaccessible along with other PSN related services like the PlayStation Blog.
PSN Maintenance Scheduled for May16th 2012
Heads up on yet more PlayStation Network maintenance this month. The PlayStation Network will be offline for maintenance starting on Wednesday 16th May from 16.00 until Thursday 17th May at 00.00 BST. During this time, PSN services will be unavailable, including the PlayStation Store and Account Management sections.
More Scheduled PSN Maintenance Announced
Sony has published another post detailing more maintenance to the PlayStation Network. The maintenance is scheduled for May 3rd 2012 (this Thursday) between 05:00 and 11:00 BST, but will be limited to the games listed below. The rest of the PSN will be unaffected.
Scheduled PSN Maintenance Today
PSN maintenance is scheduled to take place today, 26th April 2012, from 16:00 until 23:00 BST. Unlike other downtime periods, this maintenance will not cause any disruption to game play however it is possible that there may be intermittent effects on a small number of users.
PlayStation Network Scheduled Maintenance
PlayStation Network is offline for scheduled maintenance from 14:00 on Monday 16 April 2012 until 02:00 on Tuesday 17 April 2012, BST. During the maintenance, you will be unable to access the PlayStation Store and other PlayStation Network services.
Sony Says PSN ‘More Secure’ Than Ever
Sony CEO, Howard Stringer, has made a short speech at the IFA Electronics Show in Berlin, talking about recent events including the PSN Hacking back in April. Stringer announced that the “PSN is more secure and better than ever”, having more than “3 million new customers since the network came back online.”
Japanese PSN Store Returns Tomorrow
Its taken longer than any other country, but the Japanese PlayStation Network is finally coming online tomorrow – July 6th 2011. Its taken over 2 months for the Network to be restored since it went down on April 20th 2011. If you live in Japan, you will be getting access to a your own Welcome Back Package.
PSN Still Down In Japan
Whilst the PlayStation Network is up and running across the rest of the world, the network is still down in Sony’s home country: Japan. Sony issued their first statement on the issue for two weeks late last week, saying that more time is needed to “make adjustments with the various related parties” but didn’t give a timescale on when this will all be resolved.
