Sony has released a new firmware major update for the PS5, updating the system software to v23.01-07.00.00. The firmware update was recently in public beta testing, but is now officially available to everyone. The update adds a number of features and improvements, including VRR support at 1440p resolution and data transfer between PS5 consoles.

The PlayStation Plus Essential line-up for March 2023 has been revealed, featuring three new games for PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra and Premium subscribers. The new games will be available to download from Tuesday, 7th March 2023, and includes Battlefield 2042 for the PS4 and PS5.

The top download charts for January 2023 has been released, revealing the top selling games on the PS4 and PS5 across North America and Europe on the PlayStation Store. On the PS5, the three new releases last month, including Dead Space and Forspoken, made it into the top 10, but GTA V topped the chart in both regions.

Sony has revealed the new games coming to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium game catalogue in February, and it includes some great titles. Thirteen new games are being added to the Game Catalogue from 21st February 2023, including Horizon Forbidden West and Resident Evil 7 Biohazard for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers.

Sony’s latest financial results, for the quarter ending 31st December 2022, reveals that the PS5 had great end to the year. The results reveals that a massive 7.1 million consoles were sold in the quarter, including the holiday period.

The PlayStation Plus Collection was launched alongside the PS5 back in November 2020, giving new owners of the console access to 20 “generation defining” PS4 games. Sony has now revealed that the collection is closing and will no longer be a PlayStation Plus benefit.
