This fall, two new PS3 models will be available to purchase featuring bigger hard drives. A new 320GB model will include the Sports Champions Move bundle, and a new 160GB system will replace the currentl 120GB slim model. These new higher capacity models will continue to offer the same advanced features and functions of the current models, but with approximately 33 percent more capacity and at compelling price points.

White PS3 Heading to Japan
Sony is prepping two new PS3 Slim consoles for the Japanese market. The brand new units will go on sale in Japan on July 29th 2010, featuring 160GB and 320GB hard drives. Both of the units will be available in the standard black but the 160GB will also be available in white, complete with matching DualShock 3 controller.
New PS3 Slims 200g Lighter, 15% More Efficient
Remember the new PS3 Slim models we wrote about a while back? The new models are 200 grams lighter than the first model thanks to smaller parts and a reduction in the size of the graphics chip. Sony has reduced the size of the RSX graphics processer from its previous 65 nano-meters to just 45nm.
PS3 Goes Portable with Hori Docking Station
The latest PS3 accessory from Japan is perfect if you travel around a lot. Japanese game peripheral maker HORI (which also sells stuff in the US) announced a portable LCD screen, which, once attached to the top of a PS3 Slim, makes the console (somewhat) portable. The product is licensed by Sony and sized at 295×255×55mm. Buyers also get a built-in stereo speaker, two headphone jacks, and component/ multi-AV out interfaces.
“It Only Does Everything” Campaign Successful for Sony
You may have seen the “It Only Does Everything” PS3 advert on TV or on the Internet on more than one occasion. Speaking at the MI6 marketing conference in San Francisco last week, Peter Dille, SCEA’s head of marketing, said the company’s ‘It Only Does Everything’ PlayStation 3 advertisement campaign is working increasing sales for the console by 184 percent in the three months following the price cut.

PlayStation 3 Working As Normal
Its safe for you to boot up your PS3 today and resume using it as normal. Sony’s fix for yesterday’s problems were to simply wait until March 2nd 2010, so the PS3 thinks its the March 1st. Sony’s original statement indicated that a patch would be released to resolve the issue, but it seems Sony were simply stalling, “We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours.”
Two New PS3 Slim Models Expected
According to new paperwork filed with the FCC, Sony is looking to launch two new PS3 slim models. The new models, CECH-2101A and CECH-2101B, filed by Sony’s pseudonym company Sand Dollar Enterprise, has similar components to the existing slim model including the same Bluetooth and Wifi components.
PS3 Slim Could Have Been Smaller
Sony has done a great job in reducing the size and cost of the PlayStation 3. But did you know that Sony was thinking of making the PS3 Slim even smaller? Namely, replacing the hard drive with an alternative. One solution was replacing the hard drive with flash memory, which would not only reduce the size of the console, it would also noise and running costs.
24kt Gold PlayStation 3 Slim
If you like a little bling in your life, the 24 karat gold PlayStation 3 is sure to impress you. The gold PS3 is the creation of Computer-Choppers, who dipped the PlayStation 3 Slim casing in gold – even the DualShock 3 controller is available in gold. Only five of these gold consoles exist, and as of yet, no pricing information is available.
SCEA Announces 250GB PS3 Slim
Sony Computer Entertainment of America has officially announced the new PlayStation 3 system with 250GB HDD. The new model will be available on November 3 for $349.99 USD. Sony’s new PS3 Slim model has sold well since its launch in September, and this latest 250GB unit will offer the same form and functionality as the 120GB model, but with a larger hard drive. Sony has sold some 1 million units worldwide in the first three weeks of its launch.
