According a report from Bloomberg, Sony is scaling back the production of the PS5 due to manufacturing issues related to the console’s custom system-on-chip (SoC). Sony’s ambition was to produce 15 million PS5 units by the end of the financial year to March 2021, but this has now been scaled back.

PS3 Production Has Ended in Japan
As reported back in March, production of the PS3 in Japan has now ended, with the final shipment now “complete”. Sony Japan has confirmed that the console is no longer in production, freeing up capacity for the PS4, PS4 Pro and PS VR.
PS3 Production Coming to an End
The Japanese PlayStation 3 website has been updated to reveal that production on the last PS3 model will be ending soon. Sony will soon stop manufacturing of the only remaining PS3 model in Japan (500GB CECH-4300 model), which was released in August 2014, although an exact date is not known.
PS4 Is In Full Production According to Leaked Images
Recently leaked photos from a factory in China show that full production on the PS4 has begun, with Sony expecting to ship over 1.5 million units during the launch window. Sony hasn’t made an official announcement regarding the PS4 going into production, but Microsoft recently revealed that the Xbox One has also gone into mass production.
