Square-Enix has announced that beta testing for the PS4 version of MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will begin in February 2014, in addition to upgrade plans for PS3 owners. Beta testing will begin on February 22nd 2014,and a free transition program will be in place for gamers wanting to upgrade from the PS3 version to the PS4 version.

Watch: Sony’s Pre-TGS Press Conference

PS4 Releasing In Japan In February 2014
In a pre-TGS press conference in Japan this morning, Sony has revealed that the PS4 will be releasing in Japan in February 2014 – three months after the PS4 releases in North America and Europe. The Japanese version of the console will come with a downloadable copy of Knack and a one year extended warranty too.
Puppeteer Demo Coming This Week
Upcoming platform puzzler Puppeteer will be getting a playable demo this week, but only in Japan for the moment. The demo, dubbed the “Rehearsal Version” will be releasing on the PlayStation Network on June 27th, 2013, and may come to the US and Europe at a later date.
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Announced For PS3
Last week at the Tokyo Game Show, Square-Enix announced a remake collection for Kingdom Hearts for the PlayStation 3. The original Kingdom Hearts title andKingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and will both get upgraded HD graphics and trophy support.
PS3 Sees Regular Stream of PS2 Titles Incoming in Japan
Sony has announced, in Japan at least, that PS2 titles will be coming in a steady stream as downloadable titles on the PlayStation Store. The service, knows as “Game Archive”, will see new titles being added to the Store at regular intervals, with the first update planned for July 25th.
PlayStation Vita Launch Photos from Japan
On Saturday PlayStation Vita launched in Japan. While it’s customary for shops to open at midnight here in Europe and Australasia, in Japan the stores open just an hour or so early and shoppers queue through the early hours of the morning. Check out some of the photo taken through the launch below.
Japanese PSN Store Returns Tomorrow
Its taken longer than any other country, but the Japanese PlayStation Network is finally coming online tomorrow – July 6th 2011. Its taken over 2 months for the Network to be restored since it went down on April 20th 2011. If you live in Japan, you will be getting access to a your own Welcome Back Package.
Final Fantasy IX Dated in Japan, Coming Soon to US
Now that the digital re-release of Final Fantasy IX is complete, Square Enix has officially announced the release date for Japan. According to a tweet from Square Enix Producer Shinji Hashimoto, the PSone classic will be out to download from the Japanese PlayStation Store on May 20th 2010.
PlayStation 3 Tops 5 Million Units In Japan
Enterbrain have revealed that the PS3 has now sold over 5 million units in Japan since it was first launched back in November 11th 2006. Sales up to April 11th 2010 put the exact number at 5,001,598 units in the region. Enterbrain also listed the top selling games for the PS3 and unsurprisingly, Final Fantasy XIII has sold the most copies.
