Now that the PS5 has been released, Sony has started to discontinue some PS4 models at all PS4 Pro models, at least in Japan. According to an image tweeted by @Cheesemeister3k, four PS4 models and one PS4 Pro model will be discontinued, leaving a limited number of models available.

First Real-World Photo of PS5 Revealed as YouTubers Get Hands-On Console
YouTubers in Japan are set to reveal the first previews of the PS5 this weekend, and with it the first real-world photo of the console. This YouTuber is set release a PS5 preview video tomorrow, 4th October at 10am BST.

As reported back in March, production of the PS3 in Japan has now ended, with the final shipment now “complete”. Sony Japan has confirmed that the console is no longer in production, freeing up capacity for the PS4, PS4 Pro and PS VR.
PS3 Production Coming to an End
The Japanese PlayStation 3 website has been updated to reveal that production on the last PS3 model will be ending soon. Sony will soon stop manufacturing of the only remaining PS3 model in Japan (500GB CECH-4300 model), which was released in August 2014, although an exact date is not known.
LittleBigPlanet’s Japan Servers Being Closed Next Month
Sony Japan has revealed that the online servers for LittleBigPlanet will be closing at the end of July 2016, rendering the online portion of all LittleBigPlanet games useless. The server closure will affect all LBP games including LBP, LBP2, LBP3, LBP Karting, Portable & Vita, affecting the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita games.
Sony Reveal Destiny and The Last Of Us Themed PS4 Systems for Japan
Sony has revealed two game-themed PS4 consoles for the Japanese market: a Glacier White PS4 with simplistic Destiny branding, and a Jet Black PS4 with The Last of Us branding. It’s unclear if either of these console will be available in North America or Europe, but The Last of Us PS4 will be releasing in Japan on August 21st 2014, followed by the Destiny PS on September 11th 2014.
PS4 Firmware v1.70 Preview from Japan
PS4 Firmware v1.70 releases in just a couple of days, bringing many features and improvements to the system, including recording of HD game footage to external devices, the SHAREfactory video editing application and more. PlayStation Japan has released a video to show more of the new features in action, but in Japanese of course.
DriveClub Delayed in Japan, No Longer a Launch Title
DriveClub was expected to be a launch title in Japan, when the PS4 releases there on February 22nd 2014, but has been officially delayed. Sony Japan has announced via a Press Release that the game has been delayed due to “various reasons,” and now has an “undecided” release date.
PS4 Launching in Other Asian Territories Before Japan
Sony’s home country, Japan, will be one of the last major markets to get their hands on the PS4, following confirmation on the PS4’s launch window in other Asian territories. The console will be launching in China, South Korea and Taiwan just a month after releasing in North America and Europe, while Japan will have to wait until February 2014.
