We hope you are eagerly awaiting the release of Heavy Rain this week (in Europe) like we are. The game is starting to hit shelves across Europe from tomorrow and the TV campaign to promote the game is also about to go live. We have a sneak peek of the advert for you to view below, courtesy of SCEE.
One of the biggest exclusive title this year, Heavy Rain, has been banned in the Middle East. Sony has confirmed that the title has been banned in the United Arab Emirates due as the game presumably containing nudity and mature content. Sony released a statement to Kotaku earlier today, though specifics were not mentioned.
The first part of the Heavy Rain DLC pack, Heavy Rain Chronicles: The Taxidermist, was originally expected to arrive when the game is released next week but has since been delayed. The first episode of the DLC is offered for free with the game when pre-ordering, but can be purchased separately from the PlayStation Store for $4.99.
Remember the photos of the sex scene we published last night? Well, this time a video has surfaced showing the exact same sex scene. Once again, we remind you that this video is not safe for work (contains nudity) and contains spoilers to the game. Only proceed with watching the video if you are over 18 and don’t mind spoiling the story for yourself.
Once again, scenes from Heavy Rain have been leaked for all to see. The game is only a few weeks away now but you can check out still images of Madison Paige undressing and taking a shower, and the still of the game’s sex scene. Of course, if you are waiting to play the game, we recommend not looking at these photos so that the story and excitement is not spoiled. These images are not safe for work.
The story in Heavy Rain is so deep and powerful that it’s hard not to emotions when playing the game. The reason why this game is designed for a mature audience is because it requires an emotional response from a player. Some decisions you have to make in the game can have you second guessing yourself, and this is exactly what Quantic Dreams want. A scene from the game (see below) shows one of the tough decisions you have to make.
Before playing Heavy Rain I was quite skeptical of the game. It was something that was never done before in a game and the story was said to be deeper than your typical game. Director David Cage has stated that Heavy Rain would be “a very dark film noir thriller with mature themes”, and that “the real message [of the game] is about how far you’re willing to go to save someone you love.”
The Heavy Rain demo is officially released on the PlayStation Store next week, on February 11th 2010, but you can get early access to it by completing the Four Days Challenge. The demo is 1754MB in size and can be downloaded by entering the four pieces of evidence over at the Precinct 52 website. The four pieces of evidence you need are detailed below. Once correctly entered, you will be presented with a PSN Code to download the demo.
The creator of PS3 psychological thriller Heavy Rain and boss of development studio Quantic Dreams, David Cage, has defended the game, insisting it’s “definitely not porn”. However, with this amount of nudity in a game it’s difficult not to consider the game as being anything other than porn. Sony’s Lucy Duncan has said that she believes Heavy Rain “looks brilliant” and that is “shows off the power of the PS3”, but that funding the “original and innovative IP” was a “gamble” for the company. Talking to CVG, Duncan said, “We hope that the gaming public will be as enthusiastic for Heavy Rain as we are.”
