After much delay, Sony has finally revealed the new release date of Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 5. During Sony’s E3 2010 Press Conference, new footage was shown and Sony confirmed that the game will be fully playable in 3D. The release date has been confirmed for November 2010.

E3 2010: New Gran Turismo 5 Trailer
E3 2010 kicks of this week and Sony has already unveiled some of the biggest upcoming games ahead of the Press Conference, including Dead Nation, MotorStorm Apocalypse, inFAMOUS 2, Killzone 3, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, LittleBigPlanet 2, and more. Sony has also released a new trailer for Gran Turismo 5, which was shown on GameTrailers and Spike TV a few days ago.
Gran Turismo 5 Delayed Because of 3D & Move Support
The development of Gran Turismo 5 has been stuck at 90% for a while. MVC UK now reports that the stalled development is because of the implementation of 3D and PlayStation Move support. Personally, I think it good to have 3D and Move support from the start, rather than waiting for patches to the game.
Gran Turismo 5 Release Announcement at E3?
After the delay to the release of Gran Turismo 5 back in March, a final release date was never revealed. With E3 just weeks away, a new “final” release date may be announced at Sony’s Press Conference. In the last update, Gran Turismo 5 was still in development but a unconfirmed September release date was revealed by some retailers.
Rumor Alert: Gran Turismo 5 Dated
Although an official release date for Gran Turismo 5 has yet to be revealed, we know that the game will be arriving sometime in Autumn 2010. It seems that a number of retailers are showing the release date as September 24th 2010, including Play.com, CDWOW, and Zavvi.co.uk. It wouldn’t be the first time a retailer has revealed an official release date before an official announcement.
Gran Turismo 5 Expected in Autumn 2010
Waiting for Gran Turismo 5 to hit the PS3? According to SCEE, you will have to wait until Autumn 2010 for the game. “We think that we’ll release this game in Autumn, before Christmas, but it is not decided yet,” said SCEE’s James Armstrong in an interview with Spanish website Canarias Al Dia. Gran Turismo has been delayed several times already, with the most recent being delay affecting the Japanese release of the game.
Gran Turismo 5 Development 90% Complete
Earlier this week we reported that GT5 was being delayed in Japan, with a new release date to be announced. Well, it turns out that the game isn’t completely finished yet. Speaking in an interview with USA Today at CES earlier this month, Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi said: “About 90% of the game is done. We are just working on the last 10% and polishing up everything.”
Gran Turismo 5 Delayed in Japan
A new announcement in Sony’s latest press release reveals that the upcoming racer Gran Turismo 5 that was scheduled for a March release in Japan has been postponed till the following month. The press release continues to state that a new Japanese release date will be decided and announced, whilst apologizing to gamers looking forward to Sony’s next installment in the series.
GT5 Time Trial Demo Hits 1 Million Downloads
Sony Europe has confirmed that the Gran Turismo 5’s Time Trial demo has been downloaded over 1 million times since it was released last month. The demo was release on December 17th 2009 in order to find contestants for this years GT Academy and as a preview of the highly anticipated game. According to the press release, reaching the one million download milestone hails “early success of virtual-to-real-racer experiment.”

The official box art for Gran Turismo 5 has finally been revealed. We can confirm the cover for this year’s must-have title will feature what some motoring journalists are acclaiming as the car of 2010 – the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG. The SLS is due to be officially launched at the Geneva Motorshow in March. A spiritual successor to the 1954 300SL Gullwing, the SLS is every bit as astounding a piece of automotive engineering as the original 300SL was in its heyday.
