After years of hard work on Starhawk, the game has finally gone gold and will be on store shelves in PAL regions from 9th May. To celebrate, beta testers will get two exclusive items as a way of saying “thank you” from the developers. The first item, The Hand of the Founder, will be awarded to anyone who played the beta.
Twisted Metal has gone gold in North America – on schedule for launch on Valentine’s Day 2012. To celebrate the good news, every copy of Twisted Metal will include a voucher to download the Sweet Tooth Outcast Multiplayer skin for Starhawk on May 8th.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception has gone gold, and is on its way to being manufactured for its November 1st release. And as an added bonus, all retail copies of Uncharted 3 will include a voucher code for early access to the upcoming Starhawk Public Beta, which will be coming in early 2012.
Resistance 3 has gone gold, and has been delivered to manufacturing for its 7th, 8th and 9th September release dates across PAL. Insomniac is still working hard however in bringing a Day 1 patch to the game to update the Online component of the game. The multiplayer public beta begins August 10th for EU PS Plus subscribers, with changes made available in the Day 1 patch.
‘Going gold’ is a much-anticipated landmark in the development of any game – essentially, it means that the discs are ready to be pressed and the Champagne is chilling nicely. The latest game to reach the ‘gold’ milestone is Killzone 3, which means the game is on schedule for release on February 23rd 2011.
With exactly a month to go, LittleBigPlanet 2 has gone ‘gold’, meaning development on the game is 100% finished. The game will be released on Wednesday 19th January 2011 across Europe, Thursday 20th January in Australia and New Zealand, and Friday 21st January in the UK and Ireland.
Sega has announced that Obsidians’s espionage RPG Alpha Protocol has gone gold and is headed off to manufacturing. The game is schedules for release on June 1 in North America and in Europe on May 28th. A preview of Alpha Protocol was included in FirstPlay Episode 004.

The gold PS3 is the creation of Computer-Choppers, who dipped the PlayStation 3 Slim casing in gold – even the DualShock 3 controller is available in gold. Only five of these gold consoles exist, and as of yet, no pricing information is available.
