Sony has released a new firmware update for the PlayStation 3 to go alongside the relaunch of the PlayStation Network. The new software update requires all PSN users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored. The v3.61 update is mandatory and is available now.

Sony has released a new firmware update for the PSP. Firmware version v6.38 is a minor update that improves the stability of the system software during use of some features. In addition to the new Firmware, Sony has also updated the MediaGo applicaiton for the PC.

Online Storage
- [Online Storage] has been added as a feature under Game > [Saved Data Utility (PS3™)] . You can store PlayStation 3 format software saved data on a PlayStation Network server and download it to another PlayStation 3 system to continue playing your game. To use this feature you must have a PlayStation Network account and be a PlayStation Plus member.
Settings
- Under [Power Save Settings] > [Controller Auto-Off], you can now set the PS3 system so that the connected or paired controllers will turn off after 10, 20 or 30 minutes of idle time.

Sony has announced a new minor firmware revision for the PlayStation 3, presumably, to stop hackers from installing custom firmware and running unofficial code on the console. Firmware version v3.56 will be available to download soon. Sony’s official change log simply states: “This is a minor update that adds a security patch.”
