Along side today’s PS4 firmware update, Sony has released a new firmware update for the PS3. The new PS3 firmware updates the system software to version v4.60 and simply improves system stability during the use of some features. The update is 197 MB in size and is required to access the PlayStation Network.

Pre-order Downloading Coming to PS4 in Next Firmware Update
Yet another feature is making it’s way to the PS4 in the next firmware update. This time, it’s the ability to download a game that’s been pre-ordered ahead of the official release date, allowing you to have the game ready to play at launch. However, the feature may be limited to North America for the time being.
Next PS4 Firmware to Allow Dimming of DualShock 4 Lightbar
In an interview with Geoff Keighley, Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for SCE revealed that the next PS4 firmware update will allow gamers to dim the lightbar on the DualShock 4. The next firmware is already in development and will be releasing in coming weeks.
Upcoming PS4 Firmware to add Share Enhancements and turn HDCP Off
Sony has revealed that a new firmware update is in the works and will be releasing in coming weeks. The firmware update will be bringing some of the most requested features to the PS4, including removal of HDCP so you can capture gameplay via HDMI and USB drive support to allow exporting of screenshots and videos recorded using the Share button.

If you have turned on your PS4 in the last day, you’ll have noticed that a new firmware update is now available. Sony has released the minor firmware update to improve “Operation quality during use of some PlayStation 4 software”. Basically, the firmware doesn’t do much except improve stability of some apps.
PS4 System Software Ver. 1.61
A new minor firmware update for the PS4 is now available, updating the console to v1.61. The firmware is mandatory, which means it must be installed before you can access the PlayStation Network. The update, which is 336 MB in size, improves system stability.
PS3 System Software Ver. 4.55
The PS3 has received a firmware update, updating the console’s system software to version v4.55. The update is just a minor one, improving system stability with the use of some newly released games. The update is mandatory, so you’ll need to install it should you want to play online and access the PlayStation Store.
PS4 System Software Ver. 1.60
Sony has released a new Firmware update for the PS4, adding support for the official PlayStation wireless headsets including the original Wireless headset, the Pulse Wireless Headset and the new Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0 (available to purchase soon). The update also adds the ability to mute the microphone on the PS Camera.
Sony Reveals Wireless Stereo Headset for PS4
Sony has announced a new wireless headset for the PS4, called “Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0”, along with support for the two previous wireless headsets on the PS3. PS4 Firmware v1.60, releasing tomorrow, will adds support for the official PlayStation headsets, while the new 2.0 version will be available from February 10th 2014.
Shuhei Yoshida: No PS4 Firmware Update to Disable DualShock 4 Light Bar
Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed via twitter that the PS4 won’t be getting a firmware update to disable the DualShock 4’s lightbar in games that don’t use the feature. Twitter user @Mimzymoo asked the Sony Worldwide Studios President, “Will a future update disable the [DualShock 4] light bar for games that don’t use the light?” He replied with, “No.”
