Final Fantasy XIV is getting a major update today with the release of Patch 5.3. The update also brings with it major changes to the free trial, so players can play the entire base game and the Heavensward expansion for free.

Final Fantasy XIV Trial No Longer Restricted to 14-days
In a bid to get more players into Eorzea, Square Enix has lifted the 14 day restrictions on the Final Fantasy XIV trial. Previously, prospective players were able to enjoy the game for up to 14 days, after which a subscription would be required. Now, players will be able to enjoy more of what the game has to offer, all the way up to level 35.
Return to Final Fantasy XIV for up to 96 Hours until January 4th 2017
If your Final Fantasy XIV subscription has expired, Square Enix are offering ex-players up to 96 hours (up to 4 days) of free play in the MMO game until 4th January 2017. The free play period will start on your first login into Final Fantasy XIV, and will expire at 23:59 (local time) on the fourth day.

The next major expansion for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is coming in June 2015, Square Enix has announced. The expansion, called Heavensward, will add new zones, flying mounts, three new jobs and expands the Eorzean landscape.

In the UK Games Chart this week, FIFA World Cup has debuted in 2nd position, but Titalfall continues to top the chart for another week.
