In an interview with Geoff Keighley, Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for SCE revealed that the next PS4 firmware update will allow gamers to dim the lightbar on the DualShock 4. The next firmware is already in development and will be releasing in coming weeks.

Shuhei Yoshida: No PS4 Firmware Update to Disable DualShock 4 Light Bar
Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed via twitter that the PS4 won’t be getting a firmware update to disable the DualShock 4’s lightbar in games that don’t use the feature. Twitter user @Mimzymoo asked the Sony Worldwide Studios President, “Will a future update disable the [DualShock 4] light bar for games that don’t use the light?” He replied with, “No.”

Sony has released a new trailer for the PS4’s #4ThePlayers campaign, this time focusing on the new DualShock 4 controller and the improvements made to it compared to the DualShock 3. The trailer looks as how upcoming games use the new controller, including footage of Killzone: Shadow Fall, inFamous: Second Son, The PlayRooms and DriveClub.
Killzone: Shadow Fall PS4 Bundle Leaks Out
A PS4 bundle with Killzone: Shadow Fall has leaked out via the Amazon France website, which lists the bundle costing €499.99 – around £430. Though the price is higher than the standalone console (which has a RRP of €399.99 / £349), it does come with the Blu-ray version of Killzone: Shadow Fall, an extra DualShock 4 controller and the PlayStation Camera.
inFamous: Second Son Developer Diary Shows DualShock 4 Integration
A new developer diary for upcoming PS4 title, inFamous: Second Son, was released, titled “Taking Control”, and shows how the new DualShock 4 controller is used in the game to introduce new gameplay controls and mechanics. The behind-the-scenes look at the game shows how the touch pad can be used to trigger certain powers.
DualShock 4 Will Be Available in Two Additional Colours
Sony has confirmed that the DualShock 4 controller will be available in two other colours, in addition to the standard black one that comes bundled with the console. The company announced “Magma Red” and “Wave Blue” DualShock 4 controllers will be available for purchase too.

Sony has released an Apple-style video showing the DualShock 4 in greater details, with input from various Sony employees describing the motivation behind the changes and new features. The video shows how developers shaped the new controller to be what it is, and how the new features will be used to help gamers. The leaked photos of the supposed PS4 controller from last week and over the weekend are real. The DualShock 4 controller was revealed at the PlayStation Meeting in New York this evening, revealing a slightly modified version of the controller from the leaked images. The controller will feature a touch pad in the center of the controller, headphone jack and light strip to allow the stereo cameras to locate the controller in the room.
