Earlier today, SCEE announced several news games coming to the PSP this year. The new games including LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm, previously only available on PlayStation 3, will be coming to PSP this year. These are just the start of a stellar line-up of games coming to PSP this year, according to Sony’s press release, which claims that 2009 will be the biggest year for PSP to date.
How do I enable WMV playback on the PS3?
As of PS3 Firmware 2.10, the PlayStation 3 supports the playback of VC-1 (WMV) encoded files. In order to play VC-1 content, WMV playback must be enabled by going to [Settings] > [System Settings] > [Enable WMA Playback]. Videos encoded using VC-1 larger than 2GB or with copy protection cannot be played on the PlayStation 3.
PSP Go!Messenger shutting down
Go!Messenger, the PSP messaging service powered by BT will be shutting down soon. According to SCEE, the service isn’t popular enough to continue. “Although Go!Messenger brought innovative communications features to the PSP community, the service has not developed the base of users that we
were hoping for. We’d like to thank all fans of Go!Messenger and are sorry to have to make this announcement.” The service, while allows gamers in Europe to send videos, voice messages and text message, will be discontinued on March 31st.

PlayStation Store update for Feb 19th 2009
This week’s PlayStation Store update is a large one for both Europe and the US. Noby Noby Noby is now available to purchase from both stores and Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix is finally available on the European Store. New game add-on content is also available for several games including LittleBigPlanet, Naruto, Burnout Paradise, Rock Band and Guitar Hero: World Tour. PS3 Firmware 2.70 details leaked?
A member of the GameTrailers forum has revealed some of the (rumored) features of upcoming PlayStation 3 Firmware, version 2.70. The member, who claims to have a friend who works for the R&D department at Sony, revealed a number of changes including changes to the gamer card layout, faster retrieval of trophy information and gamer cards, quicker XMB loading times and more. The list includes a number of significant changes gamers will be please to see, however, the list has not been officially confirmed, and so it falls under the rumor category for now.
Changes include:
- Friends List
- Voice Messaging is now available as an alternative to text after selecting a user on the friends list. Voice message recordings are capped at 30 seconds.
- Home Integration: Saved PlayStation Home avatar photos can be selected as photo ID for Gamer Card/Friends List.
- Trophy number and Gamer Level are listed under Friend names for quick reference.
- Gamer Card & Trophies
- Gamer Card layout has been changed to more closely resemble the PlayStation Store aesthetic.
- Past Trophy information can be viewed in detail by selecting "Recent Trophy History" option.
- Newly acquired trophies auto-sync in the background
- Server infrastructure for Trophies has been optimized. Resulting in faster retrieval time for Gamer Card and Trophy information.
- In-Game XMB
- Loading time for In-Game XMB has been drastically reduced, resulting in a more seamless in-game experience.
- "Theme settings" options while in-game is now available, allowing custom themes to be applied to the In-Game XMB.
- Internet Browser can now be accessed while in-game.
- Voice messaging and voice chat options can be used while in-game.
- Options that cannot be used in the XMB during game sessions are grayed out (but still selectable) to eliminate user accessibility confusion.
- Misc
- Other slight UI tweaks and enhancements.
