Europe is soon to get a big PlayStation Home update consisting of many changes, improvements and bug fixes, including improved user interface features, as well as a much-needed crash fix when should you get disconnected while making a purchase. The patch is expected to go live on May 21st, along with the improvements to the EA Sports Complex and the additional avatar hair styles. Looks like SCEE has already started delivering on their promise to bring PlayStation Home in line with other regions. See below for all the improvements and bugfixes.
PlayStation Video Store Update for May 15th 2009
This week on the PlayStation Video Store you will find 5 new HD movies, 11 new HD TV shows, and lots of SD TV and movies. New HD Movies include The Spirit and Afro Samurai Resurrection. See below for the complete list of new content. As for last weeks top downloaded content, The Day the Earth Stood Still was the most downloaded movie, followed by Bolt in second place and Yes Man in third.
Limited Edition Dissidia Final Fantasy Entertainment Pack Unveiled
The Dissidia: Final Fantasy PSP entertainment pack was unveiled yesterday, exclusive to GameStop (US). If you are a Final Fantasy fan, you couldn’t ask for a better bundle package. The entertainment pack somes with a silver PSP-3000, Dissidia: Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children on UMD and a 2GB Memory Stick Duo – all for only $199. The entertainment pack will be available to purchase from August 25th 2009, so you still have a few months to wait.
PlayStation Store Update for May 14th 2009
This week there are a lot of new downloadable games available to purchase on the PlayStation Store. Europe has four new games, while the US has two – the common ones are Zen Pinball and Texas Cheat’em. You can try out Zen Pinball by downloading the free demo from either store. As for new game add-on content, this week you will find content for MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Pain, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Dynasty Warriors and more. PlayStation 3 Slim Photos Leaked?
Rumors have been circling around the Internet this week about a possible Slim PlayStation 3 model, which is supposed to be announced at E3 next month. Sony has commented on the issue, stating that it “currently has no plans” for a redesign. Despite this, some photos have appeared today showing what could be the redesigned PS3 (see below). The pictures have been said to come directly from the manufacturing plant in China.

PS3 Firmware 2.76
Sony has released a new firmware update for the PlayStation 3. The firmware update “improves the playback quality of some PS3 format software,” according to PSN Operations director Eric Lempel. No other features have been added to this minor update as far as we know but we will wait for the official changelog before we confirm. You can download the update using the [System Update] feature from the [Settings] menu on your PlayStation 3.
Free MotorStorm: Pacific Rift DLC
Evolution Studios has a big surprise for MotorStorm fans over the next eight weeks, starting from tomorrow. Free downloadable packs will be released every week for the next eight weeks via the PlayStation Store. Each pack features new paint jobs for three vehicles, and the full set will give MotorStorm: Pacific Rift players a cutting-edge new look for every single vehicle class in the game: Mudpluggers, Quad Bikes, Monster Trucks, Rally Cars and more. Each of the packs have been designed by one of Evolution’s top studio artists and the result is a collection of some of the craziest and out-there vehicle sprays ever seen in a racing game!
SCEE: The Next Few Months in PlayStation Home
TedTheDog, Home Community Manager for SCEE, has revealed some information about what to expect in PlayStation Home over the next few months. In short, SCEE’s primary focus will be to improve their “output and range of Spaces.” SCEE will first be getting up to date with some of the older space, including Uncharted, Warhawk and Resident Evil 5. Then, some of the more recent spaces will be added, including Guitar Hero. According to TedTheDog, SCEE Home Producer is currently investigating 17 spaces in all but not all will be published.
MotorStorm: Pacific Rift Gets Updated to v1.02
MotorStorm: Pacific Rift has received its second major update, adding several new features to the game. The upload is over 400MB in size dispite such a small increase in the version number. The update adds 40 unique Microbadges for every player to collect, brand new selection of ranked races and more (details below). You can update your copy of the game by booting up MotorStorm.
