Naughty Dog’s Richard Lemarch has spilled the beans on the design influences behind Uncharted hero Nathan Drake, revealing the studio wanted the brash treasure hunter to resemble a regular bloke as opposed to an individual who boasted “precise Ninja powers”. As a result of this, the developer poured over various action movies staring ‘everyday’ heroes when tweaking Drake’s character for the hotly anticipated sequel.
Toshiba Making PS3 Compatible 640GB HDD
Toshiba has recently revealed that they are creating a hard drive that has a higher maximum areal density, allowing 160GB on a single side of a platter, rather than the usual 125GB, allowing 640GB of space to fit onto 2 data platters, up from the original 500GB. HDDs will be made available some time between October and December this year. The part number to watch out for will be M6465GSX.
Sony’s MMO coming to PS3 mid-2010
The free-to-play Free Realms is a very popular MMO title from Sony Online Entertainment. It now appears the game will make its way to the PlayStation 3 sometime in the middle of 2010, according to SOE president John Smedley. In Smedley’s keynote speech, he also mentioned the possible of of the PlayStation Eye, saying, “For the PlayStation 3 version, it’s very likely that the Eye is going to be something we support.”

PlayStation Store Update For Sep 17th 2009
This week on the PlayStation Store, three new downloadable games have been added to the Euro Store and two new games are available on the US Store. The Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 demo is available to download in Europe and the PSOne classic Final Fantasy Tactics is available to purchase on the US Store. This week, you can also find a selection of premium (non-animated) themes and free wallpaper from both stores.
Dizzee Rascal To Launch SingStar VIP Room in PlayStation Home
Mercury Award Winner Dizzee Rascal will be launching the SingStar Rooms: VIP space in PlayStation Home on September 24 2009 at 20:00 BST (UK time) 21:00 CEST (Mainland Europe). This is part of the launch of his new album ‘Tongue n’ Cheek’. He will be performing six of his chart topping tracks exclusively for the PS Home/SingStar community, including ‘Chillin Wiv Da Man Dem’ for the first time in the public domain.
Wii To PS3 Ports A Possibility With Motion Controller
With the release of Sony’s motion controller in Spring 2010, the PlayStation 3 could see a number of Wii titles being ported to the console. Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi (of Resident Evil 5 fame) divulged this information in an interview with 1Up, leading up to the TGS: “Speaking to other developers in Japan, I’ve heard a few of them say they were delighted by the Sony motion controller because they can just port over their Wii titles to the PS3.”
