Life with PlayStation was updated today to version 1.2. The biggest addition to the application is support for video playback and photo slideshows. Video playback will likely be the first change you encounter as the United Village channel now has videos available. The PlayStation Network Game Trailers Channel has been added to the application too. This channel lets you view trailers for games on the PlayStation Store and read additional information about them.
Europe Getting Final Fantasy XIII Limited Edition
In this month’s Square Enix Europe newsletter, there was an announcement of a Limited Edition version of Final Fantasy XIII for Europe. Details of what the Limited Edition copy will contain are still under wraps but Square-Enix promises the “extras will be well worth the wait.” Hopefully, we hear more about the Limited Edition next month.
Full GT Academy Details Announced
The GT Academy 2010 kicks off this week with the release of the Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial. After the success of GT Academy 2009, Nissan and PlayStation decided to team up again for GT Academy 2010, in the hopes of finding real racing talent from Gran Turismo fans. The online section of the game will run from 17 December until 24 January with national finals following soon afterwards. The GT Academy itself takes place from 26 February until 3 March.
PS3 Slim Could Have Been Smaller
Sony has done a great job in reducing the size and cost of the PlayStation 3. But did you know that Sony was thinking of making the PS3 Slim even smaller? Namely, replacing the hard drive with an alternative. One solution was replacing the hard drive with flash memory, which would not only reduce the size of the console, it would also noise and running costs.
Pirated of the Caribbean Coming to LittleBigPlanet
The long awaited Pirates of the Caribbean DLC for LittleBigPlanet will be available on to download from December 22nd on the PlayStation Store. There are two different packs available, a premium Costume Pack and massive Level Kit. In the Pirates of the Caribbean Costume pack, you can dress up your Sackboy as one of the many characters in the movie including, Sack Sparrow, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, Barbossa, Davy Jones and Tia Dalma.
Video Game Awards 2009 Results
If you missed the Spike Video Game Awards 2009 over the weekend, fear not. We have the list of winners and nominees below. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was the biggest winner for 2009, getting awards for Game of the Year, Best Graphics and Best PS3 Game, beating games like inFamous, Killzone 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 did pick up an award for best shooter, however.
Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 Announced
Just when you were recovering from the awesomeness that was Batman: Arkham Asylum, it has been announced that a sequel is on the way in 2010. Rocksteady are bringing the Dark Knight back to our consoles and if it is anything like what we experienced this year with the original then we are in for a treat. Oh and the Joker is back too, looking crazier than ever! Arkham has moved folks, check out the announcement trailer below.
Modern Warfare 2 Patch v1.06
As promised by Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling, Modern Warfare 2 patch v1.06 is now available to download. While the patch fixes a whole bunch of glitches and bugs, there are still many unfixed issues in the game. Two of the biggest bugs, commonly called the “javelin glitch” and the “care package glitch”, are fixed with this latest patch.
PlayStation Video Store Update For Dec 11th 2009
This week on the PlayStation Video Store, there are 10 new movies available to download from the UK Video Store, and a whole load of new movies and TV content from the US Store. You can download Outer Space Astronauts S1 – Diplomatic Hat and the Salt Theatrical Trailer for free from the US Store.

God of War III Status Update
On Tuesday, SCEA and a number of their publishing partners (2K, Capcom, EA, SEGA, and Square-Enix) filled a SoHo art gallery with many of the best games you’ll be playing in early 2010. Before things kicked off, Sony Santa Monica Studios’ Director of Development John Hight showed off a brand new scene from God of War III. Unfortunately, Sony won’t be making the video public until January. In the mean time, check out the update video below.
