Jack Tretton, SEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, recently appeared on GTTV to talk about the PlayStation and E3 2010. One of the questions that came up was related to PSN subscriptions. According to Tretton, Sony will only charge for the PSN if they “can come up with a compelling experience that will warrant an investment from consumers.”
Sonic and Kratos Come to LittleBigPlanet
Next Thursday, LittleBigPlanet will be getting more DLC in the form of costumes and level kits. Sonic the Hedgehog, along with Sonic’s alter-ego beast form, the WereHog, his pals Knuckles and Tails, and his nemesis Dr. Eggman are coming to LittleBigPlanet. You can get all five individual character costumes for SackBoy, or the Costume Kit that not only includes all five costumes, but also a selection of retro stickers based on the classic Sonic the Hedgehog adventures.
PlayStation Move Advert Pokes Fun At Wii and Natal
The PlayStation Move has been slated for a Fall 2010 release and the first advert has been released to spread the word. The first advert (which you can see below) makes fun of the Nintendo Wiimote for having basic motion sensing capabilities and also Microsoft’s Natal for lack of buttons. In Kevin Butler’s own words, “Who wants to pretend their hand is a gun? What is this? 3rd grade?”
US PlayStation Video Store Update for Mar 19th 2010
This week on the US PlayStation Store, brand new movies for rent this week include Did You Hear About the Morgans, Ninja Assassin, The Fourth Kind and Astro Boy. Final Fantasy XIII Fastest Selling Game in UK in 2010
Square Enix Europe have revealed that Final Fantasy XIII has become the fastest selling title in the franchise’s history in the UK and also the fastest selling UK game of 2010 so far and topping Battefield: Bad Company in the charts. Last week, Square Enix revealed that the game had sold over 5 million units worldwide.
GTA IV: Episodes From Liberty City Delayed
The latest DLC content for Gran Theft Auto IV, Episode from Liberty City, has been delayed worldwide for two weeks. Rockstar attribute the delay to a last minute game submission request from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe to edit some of the in-game Liberty City radio station, television, and internet content.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Sells 2.3 Million Units
DICE and EA announced in a press release that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is on pace to be the top selling title for March 2010. The game has already some over 2.3M units in North America and Europe, according to internal data from EA. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is winning accolades from fans and critics for outstanding visuals and action-packed gameplay with no less than 46 outlets having awarded the game a score of 90 or above.
Heavy Rain Patch v1.02 Released
Quantic Dreams has finally addressed the issues experienced by some gamers in Heavy Rain by releasing a new patch today. The patch weighs in at 38MB and fixes the issues reported by users including the accidental nudity (did they really have to fix that one?), game crashes and audio glitches. Booting up your copy of Heavy Rain will prompt you to download the v1.02 patch.
BAFTA Video Games Awards 2010 Winners
The BAFTA Video Games Awards 2010 are now over and the results are in! Our predictions for the winners in some of the categories were almost correct – Uncharted 2: Among Thieves scooped five awards including Best Action Game and Best Story. Batman: Arkham Asylum was second, winning two awards in Best Game and Best Gameplay. Surprisingly, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 only managed to get one award – and it wasn’t for it’s online play.
