This week’s PlayStation Store update for the US is now live. Highlights include the arrival of Up in the Air, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and the Universal Sweepstakes. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is now available to own in HD, and for a limited time when you purchase the trilogy in HD by 4/15 you’ll get the exclusive Lord of the Rings dynamic theme as a gift. Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package Dated for PS3
The Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package was released on the Xbox 360 last month, and broke the record for the most downloaded DLC in Xbox history. As for the PS3 and PC, Activision and Infinity Ward has finally revealed the release date. Robert Bowling has confirmed that the DLC pack will be available to purchase in May 2010.
Amazon Customer Gets Partial Refund for Removal of OtherOS on PS3
Retailer Amazon has offered a partial refund to a European PS3 owner following his complaint about the removal of the console’s OtherOS feature. Firmware 3.21 removed the ability to install other Operating Systems (such as Yellow Dog Linux) on the PlayStation 3, and such violated the European Law Directive 1999/44/EC. The partial refund was made to the customer without them having to return the console.
Red Dead Redemption Multiplayer Trailer
The Official PlayStation Magazine recently revealed that Red Dead Redemption may have the “greatest multiplayer lobby in the history of video games.” Apparently the lobby will be the actual wild west setting from the game. The lobby looks like a “wild west MMORPG” where gamers can walk around and talk with NPCs and live gamers. RockStar have now released a trailer of the Multiplayer mode in action – check it out below.
F.3.A.R Announced for Fall 2010
Warner Bros. has officially announced the third iteration to the F.E.A.R franchise also known as F.3.A.R. The horror first-person shooter will be coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in Autumn 2010. Alma returns in F.E.A.R. 3 but this time her sons Point Man and Paxton Fettel introduce divergent co-op, giving players distinctly different abilities affecting their own play as well as the experience of their co-op partner.
SingStar Online Battle Mode & Beta Coming Soon
SingStar will soon be getting a big update, enabling online multiplayer for the first time, allowing players to take part in Online Battles against. When competing in an Online Battle, you’ll send an invite to one of your PSN friends, match songs (you both need to own a song to play it) – pick-up the mic and commence singing.
PlayStation Store Update for April 8th 2010
This week on the PlayStation Store, Europe has received a huge update with lots of special offers, game add-on content and the first episode of FirstPlay. The final three episodes of Blue Toad Murder Files is now available for purchase in Europe and you can also download the 2010 FIFA World Cup demo from both the US and European Stores. Finally, the last episode for The Tester is also available for download from the US store.
PlayStation Store Update for April 8th 2010
This week on the PlayStation Store, not a lot of new content is available. Two new games are available to download in Europe and one new minis title is also available. New game add-on content is available to download for The Eye of Judgement Legends and a free LittleBigPlanet theme is available too. The US has a large selection of videos, and only one new downloadable title and minis title too.
Flower Soundtrack Delayed Due to Technical Difficulties
The Flower soundtrack, originally scheduled to hit the PlayStation Store this week has been delayed due to “technical difficulties.” The soundtrack was pulled from the European PlayStation Store at the last minute after failing the Quality Assurance tests from Sony, and will now be released at a later date.
Confirmed: European PlayStation Store Updates Moving to Wednesdays
Last month there was rumor going around that the PlayStation Store update day for Europe would soon be changing. The rumor has now been confirmed by Mike Kebby on the PlayStation.Blog. The usual Thursday updates will continue until the end of this month, and from May they will be moving to Wednesdays.
