A recent rumor going around suggests that Firmware 3.40 will be available to download soon. According to TheSixthAxis, the firmware was released to developers late last week, so it will take a few weeks of testing before a public release. Unfortunately, no details on the update are actually available, so we don’t know if anything new has been added.

A new version of Assassin’s Creed II has been announced for release in June. The Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Pack has not only broken records on Xbox Live, it has also broken PlayStation Network records. According to Robert Bowling, over 1 million people purchased and downloaded the Stimulus Pack breaking both the “day 1” and “week 1” sales records on the PlayStation Network.
Disney’s new racer from Blackrock Studio, Split/Second, hits the PlayStation 3 this week, arriving in the US on May 18th and in Europe on May 21st. Split/Second’s hard drive requirements have have also been revealed on the official box art. The game requires a massive 7GB of space in order to play the game, that’s 2GB more than the average game.
In our review of ModNation Racers, the biggest letdown for the game was the incredibly long loading times. SCEA has now confirmed that they are aware of the issues and are working on a patch. However, the patch won’t be available until after the game has launched according to Chuck Lacson, SCEA associate marketing manager.

The hard drive space requirements for Red Dead Redemption has been revealed thanks to a image of the pack shot. The game uses up just 600MB of space so there is no need to worry about lengthy installs when you get your copy of the game.
