A recent rumor going around suggests that Firmware 3.40 will be available to download soon. According to TheSixthAxis, the firmware was released to developers late last week, so it will take a few weeks of testing before a public release. Unfortunately, no details on the update are actually available, so we don’t know if anything new has been added.
Premium PSN to be Revealed at E3
VG247 has learnt that Sony is to reveal plans for PSN’s premium services at E3. According to a highly-placed source, Sony will announce a large-scale monetizing scheme for PSN at the LA show next month, but it will not impact the service’s current free aspects (like online gaming).
PlayStation 3 Getting MUBI Application
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced a partnership with leading online film library MUBI, to bring to PlayStation 3 a new service that will break open the world of independent, international and classic cinema, and introduce PS3 owners to movies outside the mainstream.
Assassin’s Creed II: Complete Edition Coming In June
A new version of Assassin’s Creed II has been announced for release in June. The “Complete Edition” is the full copy of the original game along with the two expansion packs released earlier this year: The Battle of Forli and Bonfire of the Vanities. The Complete Edition also comes with more exclusive content, previously exclusive to the Black Edition.
Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Pack Breaks PSN Records
The Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Pack has not only broken records on Xbox Live, it has also broken PlayStation Network records. According to Robert Bowling, over 1 million people purchased and downloaded the Stimulus Pack breaking both the “day 1” and “week 1” sales records on the PlayStation Network.
Split/Second Hard Drive Install Requirements
Disney’s new racer from Blackrock Studio, Split/Second, hits the PlayStation 3 this week, arriving in the US on May 18th and in Europe on May 21st. Split/Second’s hard drive requirements have have also been revealed on the official box art. The game requires a massive 7GB of space in order to play the game, that’s 2GB more than the average game.
ModNation Racers Loading Patch Arriving After Launch
In our review of ModNation Racers, the biggest letdown for the game was the incredibly long loading times. SCEA has now confirmed that they are aware of the issues and are working on a patch. However, the patch won’t be available until after the game has launched according to Chuck Lacson, SCEA associate marketing manager.

These days, most games are using up the PlayStation 3 hard disk space by installing various amounts of game data. The hard drive space requirements for Red Dead Redemption has been revealed thanks to a image of the pack shot. The game uses up just 600MB of space so there is no need to worry about lengthy installs when you get your copy of the game.
