US PlayStation Store Update for May 25th 2010
This week on the US PlayStation Store, you can find two new downloadable games and three new playable demos. There is new game add-on content for titles include Lost Planet 2, ModNation Racers and LittleBigPlanet. You can also find new avatars, including the Uncharted 2 avatars we wrote about, new wallpapers and new XMB themes.
Insomniac Partners with EA to Bring First Multi-Platform Game
Insomniac has previously developed games exclusively for the PlayStation, with titles including Resistance and Ratchet & Clank. Insomniac has now announced a partnership with EA for a new unannounced game, coming to both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Insomniac will still continue to work on their existing franchises in addition to new PlayStation exclusive titles.
FirstPlay Episode 8 Details
FirstPlay episode 8 is on the Store tomorrow, and there’s never been a better time to subscribe. This week you can find the third free minis title Blast Off, and there are two more minis titles to follow in the next two eps. You can also look forward to exclusive demos, themes and avatars on the way very soon.
PlayStation Network Getting Uncharted 2 Avatars
Naughty Dog has confirmed that the PlayStation Network will be getting new Uncharted 2 avatars later today. The PSN Avatars were created from renders made from Uncharted 2 and include Nathan Drake, Elena Fisher, Victor Sullivan, Chloe Frazer, Jeff, Tenzin, Karl Schafer, Zoran Lazarevic, Harry Flynn, and an image of the Phurba dagger.
Gran Turismo 5 Delayed Because of 3D & Move Support
The development of Gran Turismo 5 has been stuck at 90% for a while. MVC UK now reports that the stalled development is because of the implementation of 3D and PlayStation Move support. Personally, I think it good to have 3D and Move support from the start, rather than waiting for patches to the game.
Sony Officially Announced Killzone 3 For Early 2011 Release
Sony has officially confirmed the return of its iconic first person shooter, Killzone, to PlayStation 3. Killzone 3 is set to be an explosive cinematic experience more intense than ever before. Loaded with more vehicles, explosive high powered weapons and a vicious close-combat system, resume the fight against a remorseless Helghast Army of colossal proportions.
Gran Turismo 5 Release Announcement at E3?
After the delay to the release of Gran Turismo 5 back in March, a final release date was never revealed. With E3 just weeks away, a new “final” release date may be announced at Sony’s Press Conference. In the last update, Gran Turismo 5 was still in development but a unconfirmed September release date was revealed by some retailers.
PS3 Games Getting Free 3D Patches
CVG has learned that several PlayStation 3 titles will be getting free patches to upgrade them to 3D. The 3D patch launches this summer – rumored for a June release, and four games will be update to support 3D from launch. The four titles, WipEout HD, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, SuperStardust HD and PAIN, will also come free with Sony’s 3D Bravia televisions.
Super Street Fighter IV Patch Coming Mid-June
Super Street Fighter IV will be getting patched soon according to Capcom. A patch is currently being prepped to fix several issues and various exploits in the game. The patch is scheduled for release on June 15th for both the PS3 and Xbox 360, which is the same day the free Tournament Mode DLC will be available.
