The next PlayStation Plus update for the US will be live on August 10th 2010, and will be updated every two weeks. The first update for August will include a full-game demo of Red Faction: Guerrilla and another free episode of Qore, as well as early access to PixelJunk Racers Second Lap and a free Minis title.
FirstPlay Episode 18 Details
Episode 18 goes live on the Store tomorrow (Wednesday), and is packed full of new HD videos including a look at PES 2011, Portal 2 and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. In Network Highlights you’ll find more treats, including brilliant ModNation Racers creations, plus another batch of FIFA top goals.
Rumor Alert: PlayStation Plus To Offer Nickname Change Option
The ability to change your PSN ID has been available in Japan for some time now, but still hasn’t made it way to Europe or North America. According to some anonymous hackers, the feature could be heading to the West as part of PlayStation Plus. A video of this feature from the Japanese PSN can be found below.
ModNation Racers Patch v1.02 Coming August 4th 2010
A new patch for ModNation Racers will be released this week, bringing many improvements to the game. The patch will be available to download on August 4th 2010 and will feature improved load times, a new “Casual” difficulty mode, as well as fixing bugs and exploits in the game. Sony Re-releases Firmware v3.41
After complaints last week of Firmware v3.41 preventing Hard Drive upgrades, Sony has re-released the firmware making minor tweaks to the files. Sony initially denied the claims but has since patched the firmware and issued the following statement: “To resolve these symptoms, we have released a new version of system software update 3.41 with a very minor change (the version number does not change) on August 2nd.”
August PlayStation Plus Content for Europe
New PlayStation Plus content hits the Store this week in Europe. The full list of exclusive content this month will be available until September 1st 2010, and includes Zen Pinball, in addition to two Minis and a PSOne classic. You can also find two new full game trials, some dynamic themes and PSN avatars.
COD: Black Ops Getting Special Editions
Similar to Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops will be getting two special editions of the game in addition to the standard retail version. Details about the two edition, Hardened and Prestige, have not been revealed but will retail for $79.99 and $149.99 respectively in the US.
US PlayStation Video Store Update for July 30th 2010
This week on the US and Canadian PlayStation Video Stores you can find a number of new TV episodes and lots of new movies. PlayStation Move Demo Disc Detailed
Gamers who purchase the PlayStation Move Starter Pack in September will receive a demo disc as part of the bundle. Sony has now detailed the playable games the demo disc will contain, which includes six Blu-ray based games and three PSN titles. The demo disc will also feature a brief tutorial video to show how to setup the Move controllers.
SOCOM 4 Delayed Until 2011
Zipper’s Senior Community Manager Jeremy Dunham has confirmed that SOCOM 4 has been delayed until 2010. An post of the official SOCOM Blog details the Move-enabled squad-based shooter has been delayed to allow the developers to “deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game [they] possibly can.”
