After complaints last week of Firmware v3.41 preventing Hard Drive upgrades, Sony has re-released the firmware making minor tweaks to the files. Sony initially denied the claims but has since patched the firmware and issued the following statement: “To resolve these symptoms, we have released a new version of system software update 3.41 with a very minor change (the version number does not change) on August 2nd.”
August PlayStation Plus Content for Europe
New PlayStation Plus content hits the Store this week in Europe. The full list of exclusive content this month will be available until September 1st 2010, and includes Zen Pinball, in addition to two Minis and a PSOne classic. You can also find two new full game trials, some dynamic themes and PSN avatars.
COD: Black Ops Getting Special Editions
Similar to Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops will be getting two special editions of the game in addition to the standard retail version. Details about the two edition, Hardened and Prestige, have not been revealed but will retail for $79.99 and $149.99 respectively in the US.
US PlayStation Video Store Update for July 30th 2010
This week on the US and Canadian PlayStation Video Stores you can find a number of new TV episodes and lots of new movies. PlayStation Move Demo Disc Detailed
Gamers who purchase the PlayStation Move Starter Pack in September will receive a demo disc as part of the bundle. Sony has now detailed the playable games the demo disc will contain, which includes six Blu-ray based games and three PSN titles. The demo disc will also feature a brief tutorial video to show how to setup the Move controllers.
SOCOM 4 Delayed Until 2011
Zipper’s Senior Community Manager Jeremy Dunham has confirmed that SOCOM 4 has been delayed until 2010. An post of the official SOCOM Blog details the Move-enabled squad-based shooter has been delayed to allow the developers to “deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game [they] possibly can.”
PlayStation 3 Sales Up 118% Year On Year
Earlier this week, Sony announced their financial and figures from the first quarter of the fiscal year – with the fiscal year ending on March 31st 2011. The figures indicate the company has made an operating income of $753 million with a net income of $289 million.
Dead Space 2 Boxart Revealed
Although Dead Space 2 is set for release on January 28th 2011, EA revealed the boxart for the title earlier this week. Although the actual image was revealed on the Official Facebook Fan page a while ago, this is the first image of the full PlayStation 3 cover.
Final Fantasy XIV Rated As “Teen” By ESRB
The upcoming MMORPG from Square-Enix has been rated as “Teen” by the ESRB. The online game is said to contain up-skirt shots, suggestive references and swear words. All of which is pretty acceptable from your typical game. If you want to know more, the ESRB description of the game below is quite amusing.
