Call of Duty: Black Ops gets a new DLC Map Pack towards the end of July. The Annihilation map pack features for new multiplayer arenas and will hit the PlayStation Store on July 28th 2011. The pricing for the pack hasn’t been revealed but its expect to cost the same as the previous two Map packs.
Ubisoft Announce Uplay Online Pass
Ubisoft is following suit by releasing it’s own ‘online pass’ in the form of Uplay Passport, it’s been revealed. Driver: San Francisco will be one of the first to use the system, which will lock out multiplayer to anyone that hasn’t got a code, mainly affecting the second-hand games market.
Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta Concludes
Sadly, the Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta had come to an end, racking up over 1.53 million unique players participating! This makes Uncharted 3 the largest online beta to appear on the PS3. Naughty Dog have revealed some jaw-dropping stats from the beta, which you can find below.
US PlayStation Video Store Update for July 15th 2011
On the US PlayStation Video Store this week, you can find Rango in the New Release Section; Insidious, The Lincoln Lawyer and Sucker Punch in the Top Downloads section. Plus, you’ll also find some of the hottest TV shows today, including Futurama, White Collar, Warehouse 13 and Teen Wolf.
PSN Pass Will Be “System Level”
Sony confirmed the PSN Pass last week, but it unclear how the system will actually work, since not a lot of information has been revealed about the initiative. James Stevenson, Community Manager for Insomniac, divulged some new information about the service, saying it “will allow dual-login and any user on the system to play online.”
New PS3 Models Require HDMI for HD Movies
A new PS3 model is bring shipped out to retailers this week, but this new model features a slight change for the worse. The new model, referred to as “K” chassis, actually removes a video output feature preventing HD Movie playback using component cables. If you want HD support, you need to use an HDMI cable.
PSN to Invest $20 Million in Exclusive Game Portfolio
The PlayStation Network has several successful exclusives, including Joe Danger, Critter Crunch, Flower and the PixelJunk series. Sony want to continue this success by investing a further $20 million dollars over the next three years to develop more exclusive titles.

Lets face it… FirstPlay didn’t really work out for Sony and Future Publishing, who also run the Official PlayStation Magazine. After the first month of subscribing, even I canceled and moved on to other resources for my gaming fix. But its not over – Future Publishing has announced a new joint venture for a video show with Sony.
