Although the Destiny beta was previously advertised as a pre-order incentive, Bungie has decided to open up the beta to all gamers with compatible consoles. The open beta is available to anyone with a PS4, PS3, Xbox One or Xbox 360, and will be available until the end of July 26th 2014. You have just over a day to download and play the game if you haven’t already.
Pure Pool Cued for PS4 Launch Next Week
Indie developers VooFoo Studios and Publisher Ripstone announced today that Pure Pool will be releasing on the PS4 next week. The game will be heading to Europe on 29th July, followed by North America on on 30th July. The developers have taken hyper-realism to a whole new level with Pure Pool, with beautiful high definition graphics and silky-smooth gameplay.
PS4 Finally Getting 3D Blu-Ray Support with Firmware v1.75
Sony has announced that an upcoming Firmware update will finally allow users to watch their 3D Blu-Ray films on the PS4. The feature should really have been part of the PS4 at launch, but will now be included with PS4 Firmware Update 1.75. The announcement from Sony follows a similar one from Microsoft, which revealed 3D Blu-ray support for the Xbox One next month.
EU PlayStation Store Update for July 23rd 2014
New content is available on the European PlayStation Store today with a new PS4 game, five new PS3 games and a couple of new PS Vita games. New game include Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty (PS4), Entwined (Cross-buy across all platforms), The Walking Dead: Season 2, Ep. 4 (PS3, Vita). You can also find new DLC for all three platforms, new PS Mobile games and new Deals of the Week.
New Assassin’s Creed Unity Shows Off Game Engine
Ubisoft have released a trailer for Assassin’s Creed Unity which showcases the new game engine used to develop the game. Creative Director Alex Amancio presents the technological leap which will allow you to live a unique experience in Assassin’s Creed Unity, and describes the game as a “true next-gen” experience.
Battlefield: Hardline Delayed into Early 2015
DICE has announced that cops-and-robber shooter Battlefield: Hardline has been delayed into early 2015. The game was scheduled for release on October 21st 2014 but has now been pushed back to 2015 following feedback from the recent beta. The extra development time will mean the Visceral Games team will be able to push the game further and make it even better.
US PlayStation Store Update for July 22nd 2014
New content is available on the US PlayStation Store with two new PS4 games, three new PS3 games and three new PS Vita games now available for purchase. You can also find new DLC for all three platforms along with pre-orders for PLAY 2014.
PS4 System Software Ver. 1.74
Sony has released a new firmware update for the PS4 overnight, updating the system software to v1.74. The minor update weighs in at 194 MB and is mandatory if you want to continue to access the PlayStation Network. The update does nothing more than improve system stability.
Killzone Shadow Fall Gets Two New Multiplayer Maps
Two new multiplayer maps are coming to Killzone: Shadow Fall on the PS4 this week, with North America getting them as part of today’s PlayStation Store update, followed by Europe tomorrow. The two new maps are free to download for all players of the game, and include: The Terminal and Stormgracht.
The Last of Us: Remastered Needs 50 GB HDD Space for Installation on PS4
The Last of Us: Remastered’s street date has been broken by retailers, with photos of physical copies of the game appearing online. The game is just over a week away from release, but the packshot reveals that the game will require 50GB of space on the PS4’s hard disk. The game officially releases on the PS4 on July 29th 2014.
