Today marks one of the biggest fails in PlayStation history, with thousands of PS3 units experiencing issues due to a system clock issue. The PlayStation 3 was released in North America and Japan November 2006 and has passed four years without the March 1st issue causing an issue. Unlike we previously reported, the issues are not entirely related to the PlayStation Network.
The US PlayStation Website was updated over the weekend sporting a new look. Among the changes, some interesting information was added to the list of features for the PlayStation 3: Cross-Game Voice Chat. Reading up on the In-Game XMB features, the Friends section states “Talking with friends or other players in the middle of a game is easy. Chat by text or use your headset to voice chat.”
As most of you already know or have read, Heavy Rain is essentially a interactive move with more emotion and depth than your typical game. It now seems like the game could be turned into a movie according to some paperwork filed by Quantic Dream and New Line Cinema (see below). Surprisingly enough, the filing was made in 2007 and not a lot of information has been revealed since.
The PlayStation Network has been experiencing issues since last night, we many gamers reporting connection issues and “8001050F” error codes. The side-effects of the PSN issues is causing a host of other problems including trophy corruption issues and failure to boot or play certain games.
Echoes is another mini from Halfbrick and certainly brings a unique change in tone from Blast Off. To promote the game, Sony are giving the soundtrack to the game away for free (see below). Four tracks are available, with each one specific to the individual gameplay mode – Arcade, Jackpot, Survival and Multiplayer.
Since Heavy Rain was patched earlier this week, a number of users have complained about issues in the game including graphical glitches and freezing. Sony is aware of the problem and is currently looking into “any common factors for people who are experiencing game freezing.” Sony also notes that the issues are present on a low number of machines.
Warhawk, the online-only third-person shooter, is now available to download for a discounted price of just $14.99 from the US PlayStation Store. In addition, you can also pick up all three expansion packs for an additional $9.99 (or just the ones you need for $4.99 each). It’s been more than two years since the game was first released and there are still lots of players having fun online.
In case you missed it, the God of War III demo is available to download from the PlayStation Store. The demo is definitely worth a play (if not two) and we certainly can’t wait to get our hands on the full game next month. The Tester premiered on the PlayStation Network last week, and this week the second episode is now available to download. The battle heats up this week for the aspiring SCEA game testers as the competition gets more physical and they face legendary game designer David Jaffe, who joins the panel to evaluate the candidates in action. MAG has received a massive patch this morning, updating the game to v1.03. The patch weighs in between 41MB and 49MB depending on your region and fixes a lot of issues and exploits in the game – almost 30 issues have been fixed in total. Developers Zipper Interactive are confident that the changes make the game “even better than it already was.”
