We recently revealed that Episode 2 of FirstPlay will contain a free PSP Minis titles for customers. Sony has now officially announced what that PSP Minis title will be: Gameshastra’s D-Cube Planet, a classy action-puzzler in which players must manipulate sliding blocks in order to recover an alien spaceship. The title will be compatible on both the PSP and PS3.

Rumor Alert: Gran Turismo 5 Dated

Although an official release date for Gran Turismo 5 has yet to be revealed, we know that the game will be arriving sometime in Autumn 2010. It seems that a number of retailers are showing the release date as September 24th 2010, including Play.com, CDWOW, and Zavvi.co.uk. It wouldn’t be the first time a retailer has revealed an official release date before an official announcement.
SCEA Has 15 New Titles Planned

According to the ESRB website, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has a total of 15 new PSP titles in the works. Most (if not all) of the games appear to be downloadable efforts, considering the simplistic quality of their descriptions; however, these games are unlikely to be part of PlayStation Minis, as they are rated exclusively for PSP (Minis are playable on the PSP and PS3).
PS3 Has Highest Percentage of Connected Consoles

Research firm The Diffusion Group said that in the U.S., the PlayStation 3 has the highest percentage of broadband connected consoles when compared to Xbox 360 and Wii. In fact, 78% of PS3 users have their console connected to the Internet, compared to 73% of Xbox 360 owners and only 54% of Wii owners, according to Diffusion Group director of research Michael Greeson.
Heavy Rain Officially Surpasses the Million Mark

A few weeks ago we reported that Heavy Rain surpassed the million units sold mark. Sony has now officially confirmed that the title has indeed crossed the mark in just five weeks after release. “It has been hugely gratifying to see the positive response that Heavy Rain has received from gamers” says David Cage, the Writer and Director of Heavy Rain and CEO of Quantic Dream.
PlayStation Move Sub-Controller Named

The Sony Motion Controller was named at the Game Developers Conference 2010 in San Francisco, back in March 2010, but the accompanying controller was not. Sony has finally named the nun-chuck like accessory, calling it the Navigation Controller. Not very original is it? The official product page has also been updated to reflect the new name for the device.
Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time Closing In On 1 Million Mark

The latest iteration of Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank, A Crack In Time, is closing in on the one million units sold mark. The game was released back in October 2009, but has taken some time to reach this milestone. Hitting the million mark means all the major Ratchet & Clank games have sold over a million since the franchise first debuted in 2002.
SOCOM 4 Beta Confirmed at PlayStation Move Event

The PlayStation Move was recently shown off at an event in Seattle, and some interesting information about the SOCOM 4 was revealed. The title will be supporting the PlayStation Move controller and Zipper Interactive, as represented by Jill Webber, also confirmed that a beta will indeed be coming up for the game, although no specific date was given out for it.
Current Final Fantasy XIV Beta May Not Be Coming to PS3

Final Fantasy XIV is currently in phase one of the closed beta for the PC, but Square Enix has revealed that the first phase is unlikely to reach the PS3. However, Square Enix believe phase two will be available on the PS3. Registrations to enter the beta have been running for some time now, including priority access to those who purchased Final Fantasy XIII.

If you purchased the first episode of FirstPlay, which was released on Thursday, you may have found it a little weak and lacking original content and downloads. Well, you will be glad to know that the second episode will include a free downloadable Minis title, however, the title is not yet known.
