This month, PlayStation Plus subscribers can look forward to up to 100% discounts on a number of PSN and PS3 titles. The first PlayStation Plus update is already live on the PlayStation Store, and includes all five episodes of Back to the Future: The Game available to download for free.
PS3 owners living in the UK and Ireland will notice a new icon on the TV/Video Services section of the XMB. The Netflix app is only 14MB in size, but isn’t completely functional yet. The service will be available in the UK and Ireland soon, so the app only displays a “coming soon” message and allows you to sign-up for a notification email once the service is available.
This week’s Japanese hardware sales charts show that the brand new PS Vita has sold only 42,648 units in the last week. That’s actually less units than the PSP sold (62,746 units to be exact) and considerably less than the 3DS (which moved nearly 200,000 machines).

Sony has released Firmware update v1.51 for the PlayStation Vita to fix the freezing bugs experienced by some users. The Japanese PlayStation website doesn’t mention specific details for the update, except that it may be required to play certain games and when accessing PlayStation Network features.
Christmas is over but Access TV is back for one last episode before we enter the New Year. In episode 15 there’s a bumper preview of 2012?s hottest PS3 titles, including Mass Effect 3, BioShock Infinite and Grand Theft Auto V. PlayStation Vita has only sold 72,479 units in its second week since launch, which is a rather disappointing figure after more than 320,000 units were sold in the first 48 hours since launch. In comparison, the PSP sold 101,121 units, while the 3DS shifted a staggering 482,200 units in the same seven days.
