New figures from NPD have revealed that the PS4 has extended its lead over the Xbox One, “nearly doubling” it’s sales. Microsoft didn’t specify exactly how many units were sold, but the report reveals that 280,000 PS4 units were sold, while an estimated 145,000 Xbox One units were sold in January.

Top PSN Sellers for January 2014 in North America

SCEA has released it’s PlayStation Store charts for January 2014, revealing the top selling PS4, PS3 and PS Vita games. On the PS4, Battlefield 4 is still on top for the second month running, beating new title Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. As for the PS3, Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition continues at the top for yet another month.
Final Fantasy XIV Beta Coming to PS4 in February, Releases in April

Square-Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be releasing on the PS4 on April 14th 2014, with a beta starting on February 22nd. The beta will be available to anyone with a PS4 and can be downloaded from the PlayStation Store.

SCEE have released the PlayStation Store Chart for January 2014, revealing the top downloaded games on the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita. On the PS3, Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition is still on top of the chart for a second month, while Call of Duty: Ghosts has managed to climbed five places to 1st place on the PS4 chart, keeping Battlefield 4 in second place.
FIFA 14 Returns to Top of UK Games Chart

Lara Croft couldn’t keep FIFA 14 off the top spot for very long, as the football game has returned to the top of the UK Games chart this week. In fact, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition has dropped to 4th place. PS4 exclusive Killzone: Shadow Fall has gained a place, surprisingly, finishing in 9th position (up from 10th).

FIFA 14 has finally be knocked off the top spot in the UK Games Chart after four weeks, thanks to the release of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on PS4 and Xbox One. According to EuroGamer, the PS4 version accounted for 69% of all sales. PS4 exclusive Killzone: Shadow Fall has dropped a further three places to finish in 10th position.
Sony Reveals Wireless Stereo Headset for PS4

Sony has announced a new wireless headset for the PS4, called “Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0”, along with support for the two previous wireless headsets on the PS3. PS4 Firmware v1.60, releasing tomorrow, will adds support for the official PlayStation headsets, while the new 2.0 version will be available from February 10th 2014.

Sony has updated the PlayStation Companion app on iOS and Android to version v1.60, adding some new features to the application along with improvements. Among the changes is the ability to view Live Streams in the [Live from PlayStation] section, supporting both Twitch and UStream.
