Over the years many gamers have been repeatedly frustrated by game publishers being too restrictive about which platforms their titles would appear on. But thanks to the impressive example of mobile gaming and the lucrative revenues earned from competitive gaming, it’s hoped that our consoles could be finally be entering the cross-platform era.

Final Fantasy XV Has Gone Gold, New ‘Omen’ Trailer Release
Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XV has gone gold. This means that development on the game is now complete and the disc is ready for mass manufacturing, and on schedule for release on 29th November 2016. In addition to the announcement, a new trailer for the game has also been released, titled ‘Omen’ (watch it below).
Sony Reveals Two Third-Party Licensed Pro Controllers for PS4
Sony has revealed the first two officially licensed third-party controllers for the PS4, mainly targeted to competitive and pro players. Sony invited Razer and Nacon to “use their knowledge and expertise in developing eSports peripherals to design two unique pro controllers for PS4.” Find out details on each version below.
PlayStation Plus Line-up for November 2016 Revealed
The free PlayStation Plus games for November 2016 has been revealed, and include a few spooky games for your post Halloween gaming sessions. The new games will be available to download from Tuesday, 1st November 2016, and include Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture (PS4) and Costume Quest 2 (PS3). Check out the full list below.
The Last Guardian has Gone Gold
After years of delays, some of you will be happy to know that The Last Guardian has gone gold. Shuhei Yoshida tweeted the news, meaning the game is ready for manufacturing. It also means that the game is on track to release on 7th December 2016 in North America and Europe, and 9th December 2016 across UK & Ireland.
Game UK Charging Gamers to Test PlayStation VR In-Store
If you were planning on testing out PlayStation VR before buying, be warned that Game in the UK are charging for the privilege. It will set you back £5 for a ten minute demo, or £15 for a thirty minute demo. The play test is free if you go ahead and purchase the system, however. It may seem like an unusual move, but apparently Sony has given permission for stores to charge for a demo.
New Watch Dogs 2 Trailer Welcomes You to San Francisco
Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Watch Dogs 2, which is just a few weeks away from launch. The trailer shows you various areas of San Francisco that players will be able to visit in the game, including the Bay Area and Silicon Valley. The trailer also shows off many of the modes of transportation available in the game, including off-road vehicles, sail boats and more.
Top PSN Sellers for September 2016 in North America
The PlayStation Store Chart has been revealed for September 2016, revealing the top selling digital titles in North America. On the PS4, sports games dominated the top 5, with NBA 2K17 selling the most number of digital copies, beating FIFA 17 and Madden NFL 17, which closed in second and third places, respectively. On the PS3, Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 was the top selling title, again beating FIFA 17.
World of Final Fantasy Demo Releasing Next Week
Square Enix have announced that a playable demo for World of Final Fantasy will be available to download early next week. The demo will be exclusive to the PlayStation Store and will give players the opportunity to sample the game ahead of the full release later this month. Players will be able to play as Lann and Reynn, in both their Lilikan and Jiant forms, and will see some iconic and memorable enemies from past Final Fantasy games.
PS4’s Media Player Update Adds 360° Video and Photos
Alongside the launch of the PlayStation VR headset, the PS4’s Media Player application has been updated to v2.50, adding support for 360° videos and photos using PlayStation VR, as well as other new features. PlayStation VR owners can activate ‘VR mode’ from Media Player’s Options menu and then select a 360° video or photo from your media server or USB device to enjoy.
