Sony Computer Entertainment chairman Kaz Hirai has revealed the firm has pencllled in an early 2010 launch date for its new iTunes-rivalling online service. In addition, Sony also plans to release a non-game development kit for the PlayStation Network in Q2, to encourage content providers to develop for the platform.

Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition Details and Screenshots

When Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition is released next year along with the Motion Controller, Capcom will be releasing two costumes pack to go along with it. One of them gives Chris the warrior outfit from the PC version and Sheva a sexy folklore dress. In Europe and North America, Alternative Edition will be released in four parts, rather than one big download.

PlayStation Store Update for Nov 19th 2009

This week on the PlayStation Store, Europe has more special offers on a number of titles, as well as a few new downloadable games. Invincible Tiger is finally available to download in Europe and the Metal Gear Solid PSOne Classic is also available to purchase. adHocParty is available to download in the US, as well as a new playable demo. A new episode of PULSE is also available for viewing.
Sony: Current PSN Services Will Remain Free

Sony are looking to increase their profits in 2010, and part of their strategy is to introduce a subscription service to the PlayStation Network. SCE head Kaz Hirai was quick to note that current PlayStation Network services will remain free. Hirai explains, “we are studying the possibility of introducing a subscription model, offering premium content and services, in addition to the current free services.”
VidZone Update for Nov 19th 2009

This week on VidZone, a brand new Lady GaGa video is available for viewing as well as new playlists. Alicia Keys’ new single “Doesn’t Mean Anything” is also available for viewing as well as Powderfinger’s new single “All of the Dreamers”. PSN Video Delivery Service Press Release

LONDON – 19th November 2009: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) further expanded its PlayStation® entertainment experience today with the launch of the PlayStation®Network video delivery service for Europe. Now available in France, Germany, Spain and the UK, with other countries to follow in 2010, the service allows film fans to download hundreds of movies, including the latest releases, straight to their PlayStation®3 (PS3™) and PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable).

PlayStation 3 Celebrated 3rd Birthday in North America & Japan

As many of you know, this week marked the third anniversary of PS3 and PlayStation Network for Japan and North America. At launch three years ago, PS3 was a cutting edge gaming console, ushering in the idea of a forward thinking format like Blu-ray that few people had heard of. Since then, there has been many updated to the PS3, in terms of both hardware and software.
New Firmware v3.10 Screens

With the official announcement of PS3 Firmware 3.10 earlier this week, Sony has provided us with new new screens of some of the new features. The biggest of which is Facebook integration. While it may not be the same level of integration as Xbox 360, it’s a start. Firmware 3.10 also introduces other changes including a revised layout of how photos are displayed on the XMB. Firmware 3.10 is available to download via the System Update feature on your PS3.
