Invites for a new PS5 Firmware beta are now rolling out to gamers who have signed up for the beta program. Along with the usual performance and stability updates, this new firmware adds support for Unicode 16.0 emojis, and improves parental controls.
There are also improvements to the Activity cards, which appear on the new Welcome Hub introduced in the last major firmware update. This firmware will remain in beta for the coming months, before being released to the public as PS5 System Software v25.02-11.00.00 (assumed).
You can check out the release notes for this beta firmware below, but the features may change before the public version is released.

The main changes in this version are:
- We’ve made it simpler to view details about activities.
- Activity details are now fully displayed on cards.
- Potential spoilers will still be hidden.
- Unicode 16.0 emojis are now supported. You can use them in your messages.
- When you set the parental controls’ restriction level to Late Teens or Older, Communication and User-Generated Content will now default to Restrict. If you have previously set the level to Late Teens or Older, your previous settings will not be affected and it will be shown as Customise.
- We’ve improved system software performance and stability.
- We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.
