Sony announced the redesigned “slim” PS5 model yesterday, which releases in November 2023 in the US and Canada, with other countries to follow. The new model is 30% smaller in size, 18% lighter compared to the original Digital Edition and 24% lighter compared to the Blu-ray Disc version, but the console is still quite large.
We’ve done an approximate size comparison using the official measurements, which shows that the console is just over 3cm shorter (vertical position), and just under 1cm smaller in width. The depth of the new model (from front to back, which isn’t illustrated below) is 4.4cm smaller too.
