PlayStation Plus now has three tiers which you can choose from, with the higher-priced tired offering you more free games and additional benefits. If you are a PlayStation Plus Essentials subscriber (the base tier), you can easily upgrade to one of the higher tiers by paying the difference.
The cost to upgrade depends on how long you have left in your subscription. For example, if you’ve just subscribed to PlayStation Plus Essential for £49.99 (per year) and want to upgrade to PlayStation Plus Extra, you will pay £34 to upgrade for the year.
You can upgrade to PlayStation Plus Extra or Deluxe / Premium via the PS5 or using the PlayStation Website. The video below shows how simple the process is:
You can also downgrade your subscription to a lower tier, but this only takes affect when your subscription renews – you don’t get a refund if you downgrade part-way through, but you will continue to have access to the additional features until the renewal date.
