Sony’s latest financial results, for the quarter ending 31st December 2022, reveals that the PS5 had great end to the year. The results reveals that a massive 7.1 million consoles were sold in the quarter, including the holiday period.
The massive sales means that the PS5’s cumulative sales figure is now at 32 million units worldwide. The continued stock issues means this figure is a few million units behind the 35.9 million units the PS4 sold over the same timeframe. But Sony has recently claimed that the stock issue has now improved, so the sales could pick up this year.
The financial report also reveals that nearly 30% of PS5 owners did not own a PS4, so the console is attracting new gamers to the PlayStation family. As for software sales, God of War Ragnarök managed to sell 11 million copies since its November release, making it the fastest-selling first party game ever.
