Sony Announces All-New PlayStation Plus, Launching in June 2022

Sony has announced major changes to the PlayStation Plus subscription service, which originally launched back in 2010. The changes mean that PlayStation Plus and PlayStation now will be combined into a new subscription service, while introducing three membership tiers with more benefits. However, PlayStation Now will only be included in top tier.

PlayStation Plus will be split into three membership tiers, each with its own price point and additional features. The current PlayStation Plus benefits will become PlayStation Plus Essential and will remain at the same price with the same benefits.

With PlayStation Plus Extra, you will get all the benefits of PlayStation Plus Essential, but you’ll also be able to access up to 400 additional PS4 and PS5 games, including first-party titles. At launch, Sony plan to include titles such as Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and Returnal.

The top tier is PlayStation Plus Premium, which includes everything from Essential and Extra, with PlayStation Now. This tier gives gamers access to a further 340 games, including PS3, PS2, PS1 and PSP games.

The new tiers will launch, starting in June 2022. Sony will begin with an initial launch in several markets in Asia, followed by North America, Europe and the rest of the world where PlayStation Plus is offered.
