Hot on the heels from Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Sony has announced that it has acquired multi-platform studio and publisher Bungie. The Destiny and Halo creator was picked up for $3.6 billion, but will continue to be a independent and and multi-platform studio.
Sony has that Bungie’s world-class expertise in multi-platform development and live game services will help expand PlayStation to hundreds of millions of gamers. Bungie is a great innovator and has developed incredible proprietary tools that will help PlayStation Studios achieve new heights.

Bungie previously belonged to Microsoft, creating a series of Xbox-exclusive Halo games, before becoming a separate company. Bungie then signed a publishing deal with Activision in 2010, before once again setting out on their own in 2019.
