2K Games has revealed that the servers for NBA 2K20 will be shutting down on 31st December 2021, which means players will no longer be able to play ranked or online games, and anyone online functionality will also cease to work. NBA 2K20 was released in September 2019 so the servers have been running for just over 2 years.
2K Games posted the following notice on their support site at the end of November:
As all good things must come to an end, NBA 2K20‘s servers will be discontinued as of December 31, 2021.
Players will no longer be able to play ranked or online league games. Accordingly, any mode that earns or uses VC will be affected, along with any other online function (such as the MyTEAM mode and online matches against other players).
NBA 2K20 was given away in PlayStation Plus back in July 2020. The server shutdown will mean that the Platinum trophy will be unattainable for anyone who doesn’t unlocked it by the end of the year, as the game has 8 online trophies.
