EA has announced that FIFA 22 will be releasing on the PS4 and PS5 on 1st October 2021, but the Ultimate Edition of the game will be available slightly earlier from 27th September. FIFA 22 will feature “groundbreaking” a new HyperMotion technology across every mode in the game, but this will only be available in the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia versions of the game.
The HyperMotion technology comes from Xsens suits, which were worn by 22 professional players, which allowed EA to capture every movement while playing a 11v11 match. “The resulting unprecedented volume of high-quality real-human movement data powers how both individuals and teams move across FIFA 22,” says the FIFA 22 website.
The new-gen version of FIFA 22 also includes machine learning, which writes new animations in real time to create organic football realism across a variety of interactions on the pitch. “Tactical AI” is also used to make up to 6x more decisions per second gives attackers more awareness of their surroundings, allows them to make smarter runs in build-up play, and lets them react to loose balls quicker.
In defence, the AI gives teams the ability to act as a tactical unit, retaining their shape to move across the pitch and cover vacant space.
There will be two versions of the game available on the PS4 and PS5:
