Sony Confirms Closure of PlayStation Store on PS3, PS Vita and PSP

Following reports of the PlayStation Store closing on legacy consoles, Sony has today confirmed the news. The PlayStation Store on the PS3 will close as of 2nd July 2021, which means gamers will no longer be able to purchase digital games on the console. The remaining purchase functionality for the PSP will also close on this date.

In addition, the PlayStation Store on the PS Vita will close on 27th August 2021. The shutdown means that content can no longer purchased on the three devices, including games, video content, in-game purchases and DLC.

Owners of existing content will still be able to download the content by accessing the Download List on the respective device. If you have purchased a PS3/PS Vita cross-buy bundle and have only downloaded either the PS3 or PS Vita version, you will need to download the other version prior to the closure of PlayStation Store on the relevant device. Games claimed via PlayStation Plus will also still be available as long as you remain a subscriber.

Sony has also confirmed that cross-buy content can still be purchased through PlayStation Store on the web, PlayStation App, or on PS4 / PS5 consoles and access both the PS4 version and the PS3/PS Vita/PSP versions. Funds in your wallet remain the same as these are tried to your PlayStation Account and not your console.
