In two seperate leaks today, more information about the new DualShock 5 controller have been revealed. The controller, which will be paired with the PS5, is similar in design to the PS4’s DualShock 4 controller, but with some major functional differences.
According to tipster Tidux (via twitter), the DualShock 5 controller has a new touchpad that does away with the lightbar and “feel (sic) more exact.” The controller also had a more premium feel with a built-in microphone and USB-C port for charging.
Tidux also revealed that the controller does not have a OLED screen or buttons at the back of the controller (as revealed in a recent patent filing). In summary:
- Overall girth is a big change and makes it feel premium.
- Touchpad got a overhaul and feel more exact.
- Lightbar in the top is gone.
- Triggers feels great.
- Microphone built in to the DS5.
- USB-C connection.
- Better battery life.
- Haptic feedback is amazing.
- No Oled Screen.
- No buttons on the back.
- Compatible with PS4, likewise DS4 with PS5.
In the second leak, a prototype of the DualShock 5 controller was leaked by a cleaner at a games company beginning with U.
The same cleaner leaked another shot of the PS5 devkit, which shows a LCD screen on the front, and part of the DS5 controller above.
