The Japanese PlayStation 3 website has been updated to reveal that production on the last PS3 model will be ending soon. Sony will soon stop manufacturing of the only remaining PS3 model in Japan (500GB CECH-4300 model), which was released in August 2014, although an exact date is not known.
According to unofficial reports, production is likely to stop at the end of March 2017.
The PS3 is just over 10 years old, having first launched in November 2006. Sony has in the past revealed that each console has a 10-year lifetime, meaning it’s well and truly the end for the PS3.
